Unfortunately, if things continue the way they are, this is what we are looking at. All the top QBs are gone before the Texans pick. They end up picking up a player on defense (ILB is a major need but likely won't be an immediate impact player). A 2nd-tier QB in the 2nd and a 3rd-tier RB in the third. Your hope cannot be solely in the draft.
The Texans 2016 QB will be Tom Savage, there are no current college QB's I see playing next year. I admit I wouldn't have known about Derrick Carr at this point his last college year and preferred Bryce Petty though.
Man I was calling for Derek Carr more than a year before he got drafted....but I had a 2nd round grade on him and he turned out to be by far the best QB in the class.
On Thursday, Miss State senior QB Dak Prescott joined Tim Tebow, Aaron Murray, Danny Wuerffel, Peyton Manning and Chris Leak as the only signal-callers in SEC history to throw for 100-plus touchdowns. Prescott tossed four touchdowns to help down Mizzou on Thursday, with the final one being his 100th career scoring toss. The 6-foot-2, 230-pound senior's accounted for 25 total touchdowns this season over nine games. 18 of those have come through the air, with an additional seven on the ground. He's been particularly prolific passing of late, with 10 touchdown tosses in his last three games. Source: CBS Sports Nov 8 - 10:31 AM Dak Prescott - QB - Bulldogs Mississippi State senior QB Dak Prescott said, "I’ve beaten every team in the SEC West besides [Alabama]. I want to go do it." Prescott and his Bulldog buddies host the Crimson Tide on Saturday. The confidence is there, at least, as the 6-foot-2, 230-pound senior said that he believes he's "better at every aspect of the quarterback position" this season. The numbers back Prescott up well enough. In 2014, he tossed 11 interceptions in 396 pass attempts. This time around, he's thrown just one in 300 pass attempts. He's also accounted for 25 total touchdowns. Prescott's final word: "There’s no better time to go [beat Alabama] than my last year in front of my home crowd." Source: The Clarion-Ledger Nov 9 - 6:50 PM Mississippi State senior QB Dak Prescott has been invited to the Senior Bowl. No word yet on whether he's accepted, but Prescott has plenty of time to decide. "Dak is a great CFB player who is more of a 'power thrower' than 'precision passer,'" tweeted Executive Director of the Senior Bowl Phil Savage. "Accuracy is the [question] NFL scouts have on him." Prescott will have plenty of chances to show he's capable of touch on Saturday against Alabama's aggressive defense. Earlier this week, Prescott said: "There’s no better time to go [beat Alabama] than my last year in front of my home crowd." Source: Dane Brugler on Twitter Nov 11 - 3:44 PM Michigan State QB Connor Cook has been invited to the Senior Bowl. Rotoworld's Josh Norris has heard that Cook is no lock to accept the invitation. A number of big name quarterbacks have turned down the event in recent years, including Geno Smith, A.J. McCarron, Brett Hundley and Marcus Mariota. Cook still has plenty to prove, but to his credit there is a large amount of "pro style" tape for evaluators to breakdown. As we found at last year, scouts love that "pro style" stuff. I'm not sure what to do about the QB situation, as my mind seems to change every day. What I'm pretty sure about is this - Carson Wentz is going to be the steal of the draft. If he wasn't from North Dakota, and was more highly scouted, he would have been more highly recruited. If he had gone to an SEC school, or a Big Ten or Big 12 or PAC whatever school (and not broken his wrist this year), I think he'd be the first quarterback off the board, easy. He reminds me of a less-polished Andrew Luck, with better scrambling ability.

As I said before, Carson Wentz is Andrew Luck without the polish, but with better running ability. He's going to be a player. Look at what happened to Garoppolo. That will happen to Wentz. If we don't get Lynch in the first round, I'd nab him in the second. Broken wrist and all. Give Hoyer another year while Wentz learns and then you're good. Spend the first pick on another area of need. Linebacker, safety, tight end, whatever. Then nab the best running back available in the third. Then go offensive line the rest of the way. Thanks for the links, Zeeshan.
Np. I got more links as well; found some more studies on him: http://insidethepylon.com/film-study/film-study-u/offense-film-study-u/2015/10/05/kevin-hogan-carson-wentz-and-the-no-throw-decision/ http://insidethepylon.com/film-study/film-study-u/offense-film-study-u/2015/11/05/carson-wentz-on-two-decision-making/ <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Update on NDSU QB Carson Wentz - he told me his wrist is "feeling good" post-surgery and initial 6-8 week timetable looks "fairly accurate."</p>— Dane Brugler (@dpbrugler) <a href="https://twitter.com/dpbrugler/status/659453469577707520">October 28, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> Scouting report and interview: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/nfl-draft-scout/25363115/meet-the-prospect-north-dakota-state-qb-carson-wentz
He finished the game with it taped up. Thought it was a sprain. In fact, the first okay after he hurt it (if I'm seeing it correctly), he threw a nice 50/50 ball that went 50-60 yards in the air. Doubt he's damaged goods. I doubt it will even have any effect on his draft status. He's already been invited to the senior bowl.
