What a horrible tragedy. It's all just so senseless.

I can't even imagine an entire city or even nation under tactical alert after such a wide spread yet precise siege.

I was in NYC for 9/11 and it didn't feel that way to me.
I remember the experience but it was still different. It was mainly air travel and future airplane hijackings we were terrified of, rather than calculated attacks on soft targets like the ones we see like this in Europe, resulting in the closure of ports and borders.

The US has seen nothing like this and as good as our intelligence is, we are just as ill prepared for if and when it happens.

It's a bit different probably the distance from the towers in NY to SW Houston is almost the same as the distance from France to Syria at the closet points. The distance from LA to NY is considerably further than from Paris to Damascus.

No one in France is even 500 miles away from Paris so it has to feel more personal.

So in the local news they said that TWO of the terrorists passed through the island of Leros. One in August and the other 11 days before the attack.

But I can't find it reported anywhere else so no idea if it's one or two.
If it's both that's a pretty big coincidence.
Maybe it was just the journalist misreporting. And the passport wasn't flagged as belonging to a criminal it was clean unlike a few months before when they caught an ISIS terrorist pretending to be a refugee right after he disembarked.

And wtf was Germany doing. Finding someone with a car full of explosives and machine guns and bombs and instead of trying to interrogate him as a potential terrorist just let him in his cell in peace. Congrats.

So far we have a fake immigrant a french citizen two Belgians and possibly a Montenegrin. So most Europeans but it will be all blamed on the immigrants the borders will close, already Poland did it, and the Syrians will die from the cold and the hunger like dogs left alone to die. Almost half a million is coming in the following three months.

exactly. When they first said they would start a war against the terrorist after the two bombings everyone believed it would be against ISIS. But noo it was against the Kurds ofc.

Why would they declare war anyway. Do you know how much money they make from the immigrant trafficking? It costs 1000 dollars for one head in a boat and not to mention for transporting through the country. Too much good business.

Yes, they do. One of the guys I know inside said (and I quote) to myself and others:

"My medical unit listserve received an email from the FBI. There is currently no credible threat to the U.S., but I just want to remind you all to stay safe and remain aware. Police and medical units are out in force tonight."

Can also confirm from an undercover cop I know as well that I spoke to. I live in NYC, for those that don't know.

    Deleted.

I'm upset with the situation and how people use tragedy inappropriately.

I'll just rock with prayers/good thoughts towards the victims and families.

    One love.

The ability that makes one believe in an invisible man in the sky is the exact same ability that makes people believe that acts like these are good. Some call it faith, I call it insanity.

Horrific event, but your post is a huge overreaction. I see a lot of these types of reactions and it makes me wonder how people today would have reacted with the events unfolding at the end of 1939.

Imagine if instead of battling ISIS right now we were fighting the Nazis -- things aren't that bad.

Perhaps, you're right. It may be an overreaction on the internet, but as a whole, I don't think so. If you read this thread from the beginning to the end, you'll notice some of the sick detachment that is frustrating, in my opinion. I hold humanity in high regard, and I believe in the general "good" in people, even if I disagree with their ideas or way of life. However, when you read the same political content over and over, and when it unfairly lends itself in an inappropriate manner to a thoughtless act of terror, you might question the mindset of certain individuals.

Either way, I deleted it so that some posters didn't spin the tragedy to support their personal, political agenda. Politics has created a desensitized monster of out of some people.

I'm going to spend some time with part of my fam. You never know when your race against time will finally come to an end. Death is promised to everyone, especially when we're not ready to go.

    Those poor people in Paris...:(

The world is a much safer richer place than it was 50 years ago. There was just no internet or cable.

What Israel did was a travesty to humanity. The slaughter in camps of Palestinians and the continued dehumanization was unjust and inspired more hate and fundamentalism throughout the region. We should not repeat that.

Interested to see how you see Islam to Muslim differently than Christianity to Christian or any other religion for that matter. People don't differentiate the world population of Muslims to the religion. But do explain.

The CIA created the first jihadists in Afghanistan to fight the Soviets. Nearly every militant islamic group that uses guerilla tactics including ISIS and Al Qaeda can trace their training back to the Mujahedeen. Israel and the world had a hand in unleashing this dragon. A good lesson for all of us to learn this history.

Can you list a few terrorist groups that predates Israel please? Tell me one that predates Irgun. Do you know what Irgun was? Do you know your history? I love you guys who make these uneducated claims. Ignorance is such bliss.

What was shortsighted was Bush ignoring his advisors who told them if they went into Iraq this is the sort of thing that would happen. It was inevitable.

If you think Turkey could occupy Syria and rid the country of Daesh you are very naive. I doubt the U.S. could do it, to think Turkey could is crazy. It's nearly impossible when you are dealing with an enemy that blends itself in with the citizenry and knows how to fight guerilla warfare. Turkey isn't helping the situation, but it doesn't have the necessary special forces required to beat Daesh.

New Yorkers expect a terrorist attack of the kind Paris had. We've been expecting it for years. It's not airplanes we feared after 9/11, it's bombs and guns. They will hit us eventually, there have been close calls since then.
