I don't necessarily agree with you or bigtexxx, but I agree with the sentiment. I hate this new attitude of "any political opinion coming from a tragedy is disgraceful and disgusting if I don't agree with it." Bottom line is your thoughts and prayers will only go so far to help the victims, and its time to start brainstorming ways to combat this terrorism - and trying to figure out whether something could have been done differently to prevent this is part of that.

    ^^

Actually the US had Iraq under control until Obama. No ISIS.

All those brutal battles in Fallujah, etc -- gone for naught once Obama shatted all over the place with his pussyfooting

    Iraq under control lol

    http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/03/14/us-iraq-war-anniversary-idUSBRE92D0PG20130314

    http://www.examiner.com/article/the-iraq-war-was-a-republican-disaster-and-we-re-still-recovering

After $2 trillion, and half a million people dead you'd have thought that the original objective of...

    what

    was accomplished.

Eliminating A-Q in Iraq? The war attracted up to 3,000 foreign fighters a month in 2003 to come to Iraq.

    Destroying WMD? *blank*

Imposing a democracy in Iraq? A democracy that kowtowed to Iran. And superseded by an authentic democracy created by one fruit vendor.

Honestly, every time somebody defends the Iraq war it makes me think of those ridicoulous contracts like "$450 million spent on one gas station" lol. It'd be jokes if it wasn't for the human costs (i.e more deaths than ISIS and Assad have caused, combined.)

you amuse me sometimes texxx. come, drag out the reports of how A-Q in Iraq was "staunched in 2007" when they got most of their original growth in 2003.

    Long winded babbling from you.

ISIS was not active or a factor while the US was there. That's what I was referring to. Try harder to stay on topic.

@bigtexxx is so blinded by his partisanship he couldn't resist and took his shot at Obama while Paris and the world mourn. I hate politics and everyone who associates with politics.

lol--you mean ISIS that formed from A-Q in Iraq and Ba'ath Party remnants?

Iraq was never under control and members of ISIS were always there under one name or another, many of them drawn in post-2003.

Please stick to this particular topic: watching you defend the Iraq war makes for great bemusement.

It's not taking a shot, it's objectively assessing potential root causes.

oh please regale me with all your tales of "pre-US leaving" ISIS taking ground in Syria and Iraq and executing terror in Europe.

It didn't happen. It happened after the US forces left.

Just disgusting material from you, as usual.

Let your personal, political agenda go for once. It doesn't belong here. Or, in the least, wait a day or two before you spout all of your mindless vitriol all over the place.

Have you considered that some of the posters here at CF have family/friends in Paris? Probably not.

You show the embodiment of selfishness and detachment when you post garbage like this.

If you want to imply incompetence without understanding the concept of hindsight or anticipation, go right ahead. But, do us a favor and post it in your Facebook group instead of here.

This BBS has some of the most intelligent people that you can read from on the internet. This type of content is well below the standards of intellect that the majority of us expect. The fact that you cannot put politics aside for 24 hours suggests your desperation for some sort of sick affirmation, and even more obvious, your inability to interpret a decent response to tragedy on the internet. God only knows how you are in person when it comes to awful news like this. I'm sure you and your drinkin' buds are sitting back blaming Obama for all of this.

We get it...you hate Obama. Just give it a rest for a few days. You're only cementing your preexisting beliefs. You're certainly not changing how anyone else feels about the events in Paris or about the President.

Actually, as I type this, I see what you did there. Excellent troll job, Texxx. You got me again. You can't possibly be this character you've created online. No one with an ounce of competence (your favorite word, ironically) would post such unfounded, defeated and cringeworthy ideas without looking in the mirror with profound regret.

    You got me!!!

....but you can do better, too.

Yeah, because the Madrid and London bombings never happened during that period.

Taking ground in Iraq? You mean like this:

Oh but right, ISIS only came from AQI, it's not like they're the same group + Ba'ath Party members the United States pissed off and prisoners Assad released.

I'm bemused, but please do keep on going through this corner, it's an excellent reminder of what warfare does for nation-states.

You liberals just love to silence people. You're not mature enough to have the tough discussions around root causes and our country's leader (*brb barfing*). It takes a level of maturity to be able to have a dialogue and not just tell people to shut up and cuss at them like McMark if they have a different opinion than you do.

To be fair, nobody is missing much if you forget major world events---

but I personally think you should talk much more about how the Iraq War was a success, serious or not :)

LOL...none of what you just posted happened.

Maturity? C'mon, Texxx, you're the last person on this BBS who should use that word. I love tough discussions, but I prefer the discussions that have some sort of logic and rational thought to them.

No one wants to silence you or "cuss" at you. You're not that special. I'm friends with plenty of people that I disagree with when it comes to politics and newsworthy events. However, the difference is that they understand the meaning of truth and decency.

I just find myself being sucked into your troll persona with threads like these. As I have mentioned in the past, you are, by far, the best at trolling. Do you ever step back from your duties when a tragic event takes place? Serious question.

I'm positive that you recognize how inappropriate your timing is and how you love being an opportunistic, faux news reporter. You know, all of your articles with bold anecdotes of your own creation. Or, blaming the President for a terrorist attack. Gems like that...wow.

It has nothing to do with me being a liberal. That's the whole point.

You use absolutely anything to push your personal political agenda on people who will never agree with you anyway.

Especially with all that has happened in Paris in the last day, why do you find it necessary to post unsubstantiated, completely unfounded ideas about Obama's incompetence? The two do not go together for this. Find some evidence or intel to back up your OPINIONS before trying to pass on your chain-letter opinions as valid points. Or, keep it simple and just acknowledge that you have absolutely no idea about what you're discussing and keep it moving.

I've given you great advice in the past: Head to FoxNews to find people who believe the same nonsense as you. I know you're an intelligent person. Why continue posting such polarizing ideas that only the fringe on this BBS agree with? Haven't you realized that you're posting to thousands of people who will never agree with you on anything? What's the point?

I'll take trolling for 200, Alex.
