But isn't one of the responsibilities of a coach is too, I don't know, motivate/coach his players when needed?
There is no question that the blame has to fall on the players- but when good teams regress, the coaches get the axe. They look so lost that big changes have to be made. It can't be helping that there is no continuity in the lineups because of Dwight and various injuries, but they look listless out there.
What were Worrel's comments at the beginning of the game? Weren't they something like McHale has done away with the X & O's and wants them to play harder. Well that worked well didn't it. Maybe he should be concentrating on the X & O's and work out how to break down the opposition. Right now I'd take Clutch as coach and put the Vipers in.
It's the coaches job to tell harden to stop helping in the paint. McHale played 2 3 zone he wanted them to clog the paint. Meanwhile Barton is raining threes.
That's asking McHale to do something he's incapable of doing. The dude obviously can't implement a movement-oriented offense. He has no control over his players. He can't seem to settle on a normal rotation or starting lineup. He doesn't know if he wants to play small ball or go with a traditional 4. And worst of all, now the team has quit on him defensively. This is his 7th year as a head coach. McHale is closing in on 60. He's a known commodity at this point and he ain't gonna improve at what he does. So you're either satisfied with what he brings to the table or you look for someone better.
nononogodno.gif Fire McHale, fire that entire staff. Don't want any of them back, even in the interim.
Tom Thibodeau. At least we'll be a good defensive team. The offensive will work itself out when someone decides to make a shot or 2.
I'll rather have Bickerstaff than Finch who a lot of people used to mention for whatever weird reason. Finch, from just a visual comparison, seems like MilkHair number 2. He doesnt look like could have authority over his kids. Soft character with not much emotion. Bickerstaff at least looks like he engages the players throughout the game.
if Coach K is tired of college and willing to give the NBA a shot i would call get him and thibs as an assisant
^This...Luke Walton as a great coach? lol I bet Becky Hammon would be a better coach than Luke Walton. Can the Rockets trade coaches and players to get Brad Stevens? Stevens may be the best young coach in the world.
I dunno. Luke has been watching the game for a while now though and that's under Phil Jackson too. He's probably too young to invest a championship team too but it wouldn't surprise me if in the future he's a good coach. He also has that whole career bench warmer thing going for him. History shows that great coaches usually are guys who were not star players in their time. I think it was said that guys like that often tend to believe that their players are usually to blame for losses and it's not on them. That's because they were used to dominating so their answer to things is just "Play better, play harder..." instead of "Well maybe I'M doing something wrong..."
