Two overrated teams in West: LAC, and Rockets. At least I did not pick the rockets to win the West as many people pick LAC to win the West, which is laughable.

LOL. So then changing coach mid race is going to make it easier or harder to win championship on top of losing the first 3 games?

And you have NO CLUE who is even interested in coaching the Rockets....

You went from "Any coach would love to coach Harden and Howard" to "yea, it's difficult". You have no clue what you are talking about.

    -Great job so far
    -good on TV
    -basketball background
-knows more about basketball than most normal humans

Kinda sounds like someone else we know doesn't it?

    Kevin McHale-

    -winningest coach in Rockets history
-Highly acknowledged on NBATV and TNT as analyst and commentator
-Hall of Fame top 50 player
-I think its safe to say he knows more about basketball than my Aunt Edna.

Talk about a knee jerk hire/fire. Keep in mind that Brian Shaw, and Derrick Fisher were also successful as players and assistant coaches under Phil Jackson as well. I actually think that during the Lakers 2000's title runs, if Phil stepped down for health for a bit and Shaw took over, Shaw would have been able to hold the fort down. But there is a HUGE difference when that assistant goes on to another organization, with other players, and another brand new supporting staff, and has to run a team on their own.

Hiring Luke Walton now (which is something he probably would even take right now) would be the knee jerk of all knee jerk coaching hires.

    i'll put it this way...

if the rockets have many, say 10, problems to solve right now, coaching is amongst them but i wont put it as the most urgent or even a top 3 issue.

in general, talent and motivation (mental side of the ball game) is the most important aspects of a good team. see san antonio, miami, and cleveland, oakland, etc. coaching is obviously important but not as important as these 2, imo. and this applies to all pro ball teams.

    Roidrage, fitting name.

I stand by my statement, we are more talented. Not better, more talented.

This time last year, no one thought of the dubs the way they did. It's honestly nuts, what some great coach refining can do.

    Talent is an issue? Seriously?

Motivation is, effort is. What's the derivative there?

    Coach.

I did not say any word to fire McHale right now, which is highly unlikely. I just answer the question that who is the next coach.

As McHale, he is a very, very good person, but he is not that smart, not a good coach either. We never see so much negative comments for Rick Adelman when was in this team. Rick is just great. McHale even is not as good as JVG.

This team will not lose to Nets if our coach is Rick Adelman, or JVG.

Agreed. And for Mchales sake, yes this is on record a pro McHale syatement from me, we don't go to the wcf either with jvg at least. Adelman, probably.

we've got talent, a lot of it. it just may not be as much as many cf's think.

but since we're talking about coaching here, i was merely pointing out that coaching isnt as important as talent and mental toughness. think about, for instance, how phil jackson coached his teams to win many titles and what kinda teams he had, and then think about the teams he had when his teams sucked. pop at the spurs, same.

for some reason, i just dont feel coaching is the most urgent issue of this team right now.

Preparation. JVG's team wins over the East teams about 80%, but only ~50% win in the West playoff teams. The rockets only lost to bad team like Phil during JVG for the couple times. Also Phil was not a 0-7 team. Current rockets have more good players than the JVG' s team.

You are in the same boat as Morey, that is a problem. I agree, if you want to win some playoff games, current coach would be fine. But for a NBA title, you need a great coach, we almost already lost a home court advantage right now if we are going to WCF by giving away two or three easy winnable games.

this doesn't have any truth at this point in the season. for the people that make this a big deal, HCA is not lost in November.

one thing i also want to add to the topic.

many cf's here think mchale as an incompetent hc, the main reason being he's failed to motivate and rally his troops. there may be truth is in that, we dont know for certain.

but, those players are PRO athletes. in this country, we have standards and things like code of ethics in many trades and professions. think about cpa, lawyer, etc. granted not everyone in the league is mj or kobe, but those guys are no high-schoolers or college kids. as pros they ought to motivate themselves.

blaming the problem of lacking of motivation and drive solely on the coaching staff doesnt get you the whole picture.
