Or Luke Walton is the ultimate example of how little NBA coaching differs in the NBA. The Warriors have a GREAT locker room. GREAT trust with each other. GREAT work ethic, and GREAT on-the-court leadership. The SYSTEM ,which was implemented by Kerr last year, and was altered from what Jackson had the last year from a roster that Bob Myers started putting together in 2012.... hasn't changed at all. Which means Walton hasn't changed anything at all. He's simply making sure that the team continues to do what it does. And now he's the next greatest coach in the NBA? Are you people out of your damn minds??? The 2015/16 Warriors are not THE WARRIORS because of Luke Freaking Walton. They are THE WARRIORS because of multiple years of a multiple of occurrences that led to a team being great.
How do you know what Shane Battier, Thibs, or JVG loves in the context of taking over a team with wcf or bust mentality mid season. We don't live up to expectations with McHale at the end of this season then he absolutely needs to go. I apologize for being realistic about our scenario.
There's so much I don't know where to start. 8 games into the season, again not mid season. Mike D'Antoni was a bad choice for L.A. although the fact that they were able to get D'antoni kinda disproves your point about not being able to get a coach "midseason". We know already there are coaches you won't get from the College level to coach because they are already in a job. There are still plenty of choices. The Rockets wouldn't go to Thibs and say "what if" we fire Mchale. Why would anyone do that? lol. The Rockets would ask Thibs if he is interested in coaching Houston right away, they would make a commitment if he says yes. If any coach turns Houston down due to "stress" of coaching 8 games in then we don't want them anyway. Just because JVG said he wouldnt do something on air as broadcaster most likely years ago does not mean that he now or anyone else for that matter wouldn't want to. Lastly no one said this was going to be easy business is not always easy but that should not stop you from trying. Even "if" you do fire Mchale before you've actually interviewed someone you can still call and test the waters, an interim coach need not be in charge for long. As far as throwing the playbook out no one said that either, it would be just like gaining a bunch of new players. You make a transition, It's early in the season and the Rockets players are not stupid they can learn the new team play. None of this is unheard of.
You're contradicting yourself. If coaching doesn't matter (or "differs little" as you said), why Mark Jackson's Warriors differs so much from Kerr's? They had almost the same roster. I agree with you that Luke Walton as head coach is nonsese talk though.
lmao Luke Walton. I could 'coach' this Warriors team to a 10-0 record The Rockets need Thibs, he will hold players accountable which is something McHale refuses to do and he will enforce a defensive mindset. When the Rockets play good D, they have good offense.
Yet there are no examples other than the Lakers/D'Antoni example and the Popovich example. Let's even expand it out.. let's say firing's in the first 15 games... to be fair. You said "8 games in ... not mid-season".... yes.... that's my point.... that's almost worst than mid-season. You want to see a tumultuous environment where the leadership in the organization looks like they don't know what they are doing... go for it. I'm being serious too. Can you think of other examples of November firings that led to a team winning a title, or at least a deep playoff run with a dominant regular season? Cause that's what the expectation is if the Rockets fire McHale "Soon" (that's what you people want obviously). If the Rockets make a change to whomever, and the team still struggles, I guaran -f-ing tee that you people will be calling for that coach's head soon enough as well. If you people really are serious about this team making a run this year (and by all indications most of you are not) you will realize that you're best bet to make a run will be to have THIS TEAM figure it out with more practicing, and some locker room leadership with the players to get the team in check, and get focused. If they get back to where they were last year they got a shot... even with McHale. If they blow up the franchise overnight they have no shot whatsoever... 8 games into the season or 38 games into the season. 8 games into it is even worse. But you guys wont get it. I'm loosing my F-Ing mind around here.
That's not the point AT ALL. The point is that the 2015/15 Warriors are THE WARRIORS because of a MULTITUDE of various circumstances that started with Mark Jackson, and the work Glen Taylor did to put together the roster, and then BUILT from that. Steve Kerr was just another step in the right direction. Steph Curry getting his ankles right was another. The Monta for Bogut trade was another. etc. etc. Luke Walton has very little to do with this 2015/16 Warriors other than the fact that he's doing a good job of keeping what they have built up in tact. Steve Kerr continued to build from what Jackson built etc. And the Rockets will continue to build from where they were when Morey overhauled the roster to trade for James Harden. And when the time is right, a coach might very well BUILD onto what Kevin McHale & co. have built as a coaching philosophy and get to a higher pinnacle. However its not the ONLY one freaking thing that matters like you people think it does. It actually varies very little from coach to coach even though... yes it matters..... Every little thing builds to one big thing. Blowing up the coaching staff 8 games in does not build.... it adds risk and potentially blows up an entire season that we've BUILT up to for 4 years. The time to properly upgrade the coaching staff would have been in June... not 8 games in the season.
If you are losing your mind it's not because of us, lol. The problem with you is you want to paint everything as impossible. Yes, it's difficult, It's not impossible, you will never win that argument, that's what is frustrating you. It's not impossible to fire someone and replace them. That's essentially what the Rockets would be doing. It's not easy but firing someone never is unless you hate the person. Under Mchale the Rockets will continue to look like this, regardless if Harden turns it around we will lose so many games early because we look and have played like we do now. Firing Mchale isn't blowing up an organization and our coaching staff already looks clueless, the things you are worried about are already happening, lol. We needed a miracle last year to get to the WCF's and that was with Harden balling out of his mind the whole season. There is no guarantee of that this year and that's what we are all hoping. One thing that is guaranteed is that we know what a Mchale coached team looks like when James Harden is struggling and I'll have to pass on that. SO at this point I'm just going to agree to disagree. It's would not be impossible to fire Mchale and get a new coach and win the right way. I think firing him sooner is better than later because it gives the team more time to acclimate.
As I've posted else where, let's have 3 head coaches, Player's coach, Defensive coach, and Offensive coach. Head coach big three that is. McHale, Thib/JVG, and D'Antoni. Pay them, Morey.
Thibs is known for being a hard ass. I think we could use a hard ass. Especially a defensive specialist.
Thibs. Let's stop beating around the bush here... does anyone here see us not just winning a championship here with McHale but creating a dynasty? Because that's what I'm interested in.. building a dynasty while we graciously have this roster. The team is suppose to take on the personality the coach evokes and to be honest McHale does not give off a strong minded, composed, defensive, tactical, or intelligent personality. He has great experience and I believe he is strong in player development (bigs only). I want someone who will command respect and at the same time be a positive for our team rather than a Neautral. Imo
So you've gone from.. "Any coach would love to coach Harden and Howard" ...to the bolded. I'm glad you're starting to see it's harder than you initially claimed.
Pls no thibs and jvg. Those guys will wear and tear our players to shreds. A coach that implements both defense and offense is needed and we do not need someone that will wear our players out. I wouldn't mind giving Mario Elie a chance, or even Sam Cassell, heck if need be Avery Johnson.
How many Phil Jacksons, Greg Popovich's and Pat Riley's do y'all think are out there? I can count them for you. 3. That's it. Everyone else outside of those 3 (really 2 but we know Pat had a lot to do with Miami 's coaching) has had very little chance of getting a Championship for the past 20 plus years. Phil won 11 and Pop win 5. Outside of those 2 it's good Fu#kin' luck!
Those two things do not contradict each other. I really shouldn't have to explain that. Just stop replying to my posts.
