For God Sakes stop putting tjones in the same sentence as DMO...Tjones IS a finished product and hes still hasnt reached 26 years of age. Thats how bad he is, he hasnt improved in anything except gaining more strength which probably cost him some of his explosivness. Iam sorry but if you still think he is worth a late first round pick then you dont understand the game of basketball, his peak trade value was this summer and we missed out, wed be lucky to get marvin williams for him period. And i would do that trade in a heartbeat cuz he is a real good 3&d player. Right now i dont see many players other than williams that can help us if we trade jones+brewer. i would go all in on ryan anderson and even add a first to those two players. and maybe dekker. We need to get rid of jones and brewer as soon as someone says yes cuz they definitely do more bad then good for this team.
Sorry, incorrect. Terrence's peak trade value was December 1, 2013. It's been downhill for him ever since.
He is a finished product? Really? Are you a psychic? Or you pretend to be a basketball advanced scout/savant like the other person you know who I mean. You along with two other posters are responsible for all the scapegoating and brainwashing campaign that is going around here. It's quite sad to see your agenda spill in every single thread. Every loss is TJ's fault. Right. As for what his trading value you perhaps have missed some late firsts that have changed hands to get roleplayers or to get rid of contracts. Esp when a draft is not deep like the upcoming one. So stop with your bullcrap.
My agenda is for us to put the best players out in the court. I dont give a **** who the player is , i just want him to produce. T.jones is a finished product because his shot hasnt improved in 4 years , not even a fix in those wierd akward mechanics of his which shows you all you need to know. He will never be a good player unless he learns how to shoot, because he cant stand toe to toe with the big boys down low, he will get stuffed everytime. As for his value you are correct , situational wise i do not know what he could net us,but in a fair deal his value would be really low, high 2nnd rnd at best. Iam no scout , but i do understand what it takes to win games and who fits our schemes better, and i guarantee with if we trade tjones for marvin williams we would be a better team immediatly
It's still about Anderson...We need him at the 4 to create spacing and not worry about Bev and Ariza being streaky or unable to dribble and dish. Lawson would have to come off the bench with Thornton/Brewer/Capela <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/zEvO6KuRZcE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> not sure if serious...
I really dont' like McHale right now and I think he's been useless since he can't even make his players "play hard". But Karl wouldn't fit here. He would in no time have problems with one star either Harden or Dwight. He wants to be the star. He did the same in all the teams he has been in not just Sacramento. Improving your shot in 3 years you are in the league doesn't make one a finished product at all. And improving your shot isn't the only development in ones game possible. Not saying that his development hasn't been a dissapointment but absolute statements for a 23 year old 4th year player who seems he hasn't even entered the phase of the game slowing down for him are over the top. And if you dont' have an agenda then why do you feel like posting again about how worthless and useless is Jones even here? This goes for everyone here not just you: What may improve ones team doesn't mean it is the value of the player in the market. Maybe a roleplayer can improve some team over a star who is a bad fit. That doesn't mean that the role player has a better value than the star in the market. Market value is about demand and availabillity. Young athletic players are NOT easilly available. Market value is a matter of circumstances. Some teams have needs and some teams have impatient GMs and impatient owners. Example : If washington fails to lure Durant they will have a big hole at pf, a lot of capspace and nowhere to spend it on. And they will have a playoff team with 1 (maybe 2?) very young stars and their frontcourt is very old. They also have a GM who makes band aid decisions proven by years of his work. Such a team will have demand for a young pf to fill a hole. And that's only one example of one team. What is failed to be mentioned about Rhyno is how bad defender he is. If we ever had a starting lineup of Lawson Harden Ariza Rhyno and Capella (like when Dwight doesn't play a b2b) then we would be hands down the worse defensive team in the league bar none.
^^^ Bev would start, if RA comes here. Bench Ty. Having Ty seems to be creating more problems than solutions...We really only needed MC, a solid back up point, and a PF upgrade.
Dmo coming back does solve a lot of the Rockets problems ... Ariza has actually played 6% of his minutes .... at the 5! and 79% of his minutes at the 4. (according to the out of position thread). Brewer is also spending a large percentage of his time at the 4 (40%). That's just nuts .... Its no wonder why they are having trouble defending & rebounding. But ..... that's not the end of their problems. Both Jones & Lawson have been .... unimpressive. I know most everyone is on board with trading Jones .... but what about moving Lawson if he continues to struggle ?! His contract can be traded now unlike the others most discuss in trade deals (Brewer - Jan15 / KJ - Dec15) and is the 3rd largest on the team being $12.4m. $4.2m greater than Brewer's who's the next largest contract. Even if you have Lawson come off the bench , you still have significant minutes with him & Harden on the floor together .... as Harden currently leads the league in minutes at 39.5 and that number isn't going to decrease very much assuming he's healthy. (Lawson is currently 3rd in the league in minutes played @ 38.4 and Ariza 10th @ 36.2 - 28.6mpg at the 4 spot!) Obviously I don't think now is the time to panic and make a desperation move .... but being open to the idea opens up a whole lot of new possibilities. A package of Lawson & Jones allows you to bring back ~$14.89m. With both contracts expiring , its possible you get a team wanting to tank & clear cap space to give you a player or two that can help you win. Ideally DMo comes back and solidifies the rotation .... solving the spacing issues , sending Jones to the bench , moving Ariza & Harden back to their natural positions and getting some rebounds when Dwert is defending his man or challenging shots.
Imo we need patience. Lawson needs time to fit in, I don't believe he will continue to play so badly. He will get more aggresive as he gets more comfortamble with teh system and his teammates imo. However his defence wont' improve at all. You can be sure of that. And about trading Lawson...he was traded almost for free. In the meanwhile his value hasn't increased but even fell. The only positive is that he's an expiring after making his contract unguaranteed. His issues with the law haven't even ended and his punishment from the league who knows when it will come. I dont' see any market for Lawson. The teams with need at pg are very few. Maybe we can get Lawson for Thad Young.
On the contrary. Not that I'm saying it'll happen, but there are plenty of teams who'll take a 12 million dollar expiring contract, while in the process getting a decent player for the season. The question of course being, Would we take on salary in trading him? Would we come up with the player that'll help us greatly this season (Lawson + Whatever Players = ???), or is the whole game about maintaining the dreaded "f" word (flexibility), as in, "Whatever happens this season, keep your eye on the prize (Durant)?" We do need time to integrate Lawson. He is deferring waaaaay too much, and Harden is half-assing it, hoping he doesn't have to carry the team as before because, hey, we have a real point guard now. Lawson'd be better coming off the bench for awhile, perhaps, but I don't think McHale has the guts. Who knows? Maybe Lawson was promised a starting job in exchange for giving up that season on his contract (I doubt it, but who knows).
Ryan Anderson has always been overrated by posters here (at least, IMO), but I have to admit the stars seem to be aligning for a potential trade. If you're going to play the role of buyer and shake things up, the idea here should be to target players who's production far exceeds their contracts. Anderson definitely qualifies. As does Kevin Martin and a few other players I've seen discussed recently.
The Rockets are not trading Lawson and they shouldn't. Lawson will get better, I agree with you that it takes patience. Lawson has never been in this situation before. He has a track record of being a decent shooter, good penetrating guard and an excellent passer/tempo controller. Only point I will disagree with is his defense. He will never be Gary Payton, but he has certainly been a better defender in the past. As recently as 2013-2014 he was an adequate defender. When it comes to perimeter defense, discipline and execution is huge. You can cover poor individual defenders with proper execution. The problem is that the Rockets are NOT executing as a unit. It reminds me a lot of when Lin and Parsons were here. The difference is that Lin and Parsons are not terribly high IQ players. Lawson is more physically limited defensively than Lin or Parsons, but he has a higher IQ. Sometimes what people overlook is that having a group of players together for years, and healthy makes a huge difference. Golden State has had this group of guys together and for the most part healthy for 4 years. The Clippers (for all their personality issues) have had their core together and healthy for years, ditto for SA. The Rockets? Howard is in and out of the line up, they don't get him every game in the line up for a month to gel. Lawson is brand new to this team and for the first time, is having to learn to fit in. The Rockets PF (Jones) is terribly inconsistent and injured. Motiejunas is out. Ariza is solid, but having to play the 4, and he isn't a guy to carry a team. It is a mess outside of any other issues. I have no doubt that Morey is trying to get a PF that is healthy and consistent that can rebound and shoot. It just isn't an easy thing to do. Ideally Motiejunas comes back and plays 30-35 minutes a night and the Rockets get stability with Howard/Capella at the 5.
With the season Marvin Williams is having so far, and at his current value, why would the Hornets trade him? Williams is the stretch 4 and versatile defender that every team needs.
which teams? Give me names and reasons. Those teams would have to trade 12 million dollar in contracts to match salaries and have a need for Lawson as awin now piece while his suspension hasn't even been determined yet and he as a bad reputation due to the Denver leaks and so far he has been playing badly. So which team would trade for him? Esp since the value of expirings this year is much lower than years before due to the cap rise. Most teams will have absolutely no need to clear any capspace. Only Brooklyn comes to mind. Tell me who else.
