It is absurd. Protests against perceived injustices such as racism? Absolutely A hunger strike by a kid that has a family worth of $20,000,000 claims someone off campus called him a name? No, that is stupid. No media zones? Nope, not how it works. Getting a long time professor fired because he makes students actually go to class? Nope, it is college, that is what you do, you go to class and study. To claim you don't feel safe whenever you are expected to be responsible? Nope, that is a pathetic excuse. Having segregated areas so you feel safe? Nope The REAL issue is the administration and this country allowing for this nonsense to happen. If students don't go to class, kick them out. If football players don't want to play or practice, that is fine, but start charging them tuition.
Here's a snippet of Melissa Click's profile. You got to be kidding me. [rquoter]Current research projects involve 50 Shades of Grey readers, the impact of social media in fans’ relationship with Lady Gaga, masculinity and male fans, messages about class and food in reality television programming, and messages about work in children's television programs. https://communication.missouri.edu/faculty/click [/rquoter]
Nope, not shocked. People that are really following the situation closely know it is absurd. The problem is that it is a witch hunt so no one wants to say anything because they don't want to lose their job, get threats or be labeled a racist.
#1 Do we even know it ever happened? #2 Why would a poop swastika be a "threat" to anyone other than a Jew? #3 If it really happened, what is the possibility that it was some drunk idiot that was playing with his ****? Seriously grow a pair. This isn't a burning cross or a noose on the front door. It is a **** stain swastika AT WORST. I strongly suggest these snowflakes avoid truck stops and public restrooms, because swastika's and other offensive signs are the norm from bored idiots that have nothing else to do while pinching a loaf.
If you think things like burning crosses and a writing a swastika on someone's property in **** is funny, then there is something very wrong with you. I recall you all getting up in arms about someone writing hate speech towards cops on a pick-up truck. Funny how you run away when it's on the other foot. Free speech should be protected. Speech meant to intimidate and harass should not. When there is a direct or implied threat it is no longer free speech. To defend a threat against someone's safety is really pathetic and scary.
I could see a situation where someone that is Jewish came out side their home and saw a swastika on their front door or car and could perceive it as a threat, or that they had been singled out. My point was the symbol itself, in almost all contexts may be perceived as offensive, but not threatening. Somewhere along the line we got those two confused, offensive and threatening are not necessarily the same.
A poop swastika - which in this instance appears to be a fabrication - seems like more of a public sanitation issue than anything else. Seriously, they should be concerned for the mental health of someone who would want to spread **** on the wall much more than the emotional anguish of someone who inadvertently gazed upon a swastika there. A swastika which apparently was not there, by the way. It appears that this was yet another lie about an imagined racial incident. This behavior is becoming all too common, by the way.
We don't even know if there was a **** swastika. Even if there is, do you find that threatening? Do you really think that things written in **** are scary? A swastika? Please tell me how a **** swastika is threatening in 99% of contexts? Please tell me how it can possibly be threatening to blacks, whites, christians, muslims, athiests, indians, asians? It is absurd and you are absurd.... just about as absurd as a **** stain swastika that may very well have never existed and as far as anyone knows, if it did exist, wasn't directed at anyone in particular. Is someone driving a pick up truck down the street with a Confederate flag threatening? What about a black lives matter bumper sticker? What about a bumper sticker that says "we back the blue"?
It's racist! You're racist! Everybody's racist! and intolerant!!!11 and bigots, everybody!!!!11eleven
I was talking about the symbol itself, outside of the particular incident. How is seeing a swastika spray painted on a public wall threatening? It isn't. Hypothetically a swastika spray painted on a jew's car? Sure I could see where they would feel a little threatened or that it is directed at them....
As someone who has cleaned public restrooms as part of a job, this happens. People get off to other people cleaning their ****. They will **** everywhere but in the toilet and sometimes smear it all over the stall. We need mass protests about that. It's terrible and those people should be publicly shamed.
Can you give a link? The KKK on campus was a hoax. The Yik Yak was verified. I can't find anything that verifies the poop swastika or the student president's claims of racial slurs other than his testimony. I agree that threatening speech isn't free speech. In this day and age, making online threats about mass murders is akin to yelling fire in a theater. However, a lot of what was said is offensive only and not threatening. Free speech shouldn't censor offensive speech, and that's what I hate about this PC social movement. SJW are calling for heads to roll when instead they should open a dialogue and educate about why things are found offensive. If nothing changes after that, agree to disagree because everyone has a right to their own opinions, however wrong you feel it may be.
You should put secret cameras in the bathroom stalls to record them and put it on World Star. You can't have effective change without social media.
Well, I don't do that anymore. That was part of a job I had in college. But nowadays yeah I might have just confronted the perp on video after it had gone down so I could have gotten my viral 15 seconds of fame.
I have to say it's interesting that a certain group of people: (1) want to tell black college students to "grow a pair" if they hear a few racial insults on campus... and (2) feel truly injured by a minimalist cup design from a luxury coffee purveyor. LOL. Which pair needs to descend exactly?
