lol, some of my writing gets put on Reddit, and not often in the happy subreddits. and I write about fairly benign s**t to be perfectly frank but I still catch some of that love. I also, I would garner, have more friends who are currently in university. I'd post some caps, but I don't want to ruin anybody's privacy to score points. Suffice it to say that looking at Twitter during any event will get you the fireworks you're looking for anyways.
I hope this is the case -- I think we are both very aligned on this. There is a truth out there people need to spend more effort finding. If she's lying, a pox on her house as well, but I'm not inclined to believe she's lying at this point. Neither do I have enough proof that she's being honest to be perfectly fair. Regardless, reading more on this reinforces my belief that this issue isn't as simple as "kids these days are mental midgets and just need to put up and shut up, and problems will go away."
So even though everything is unsubstantiated and no photographs or videos have been provided. And the person making accusations is a known liar you are saying the facts don't matter, the narrative is more important. http://www.foxsports.com/college-fo...he-entire-mizzou-protest-based-on-lies-111115 I am saying the facts matter. Segregation isn't a solution, it is an additional problem, as is this racial hysteria.
I think being threatened with murder, being minimized and literally denigrated, as well as having ****-swastikas on their walls goes beyond "verbal abuse" and into the territory of racial intimidation and oppression. If you can't see that, it's because you're own bigotry blinds you.
Online threats against "the blacks" net arrest at Missouri Campus http://news.yahoo.com/online-threats-heighten-tensions-university-missouri-085008275.html Columbia, Mo. (AP) — A white college student suspected of posting online threats to shoot black students and faculty at the University of Missouri was charged Wednesday with making a terrorist threat, adding to the racial tension at the heart of the protests that led two top administrators to resign earlier this week. Hunter M. Park, a 19-year-old sophomore studying computer science at a sister campus in Rolla, was arrested shortly before 2 a.m. at a residence hall, authorities said. The school said no weapons were found. Boone County prosecutors announced the criminal charge later Wednesday and recommended that he be held without bond.
Brilliant. That happened after the president resigned and it looks like the system took care of him well. Who is angry about this reaction? University did not do enough in this instance? They are protesting for this? I'm sure this person is soon to be arrested? Spoiler https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CTjQz31XAAA3Pia.jpg If a student being arrested the next day after making threats is the proof of institutional systematic racism that is incredibly weak.
You wanted facts. I gave you facts. I'm sure this is the only schmuck in Missouri who has ever done or said a racist thing because everyone didn't call the police every time they were called the n word. Nice job.
To be relevant they have to have somehow shown a loss of institutional control. This seems like the campus is quite intolerant of racism or threats. It might also help if they happened before this current hysteria set. I wish the guy who threatened to kill Patrick Beverley was arrested. When you say I wanted facts you should understand I was point out how NS (and now you) was trying to deflect against any investigation into how true these events were because the narrative is more important to facts. "Racism exists so who cares about how relevant or true one or two incidents are"
what? You've lost me. please read or re-read more carefully what I've actually said. Your first point is entirely irrelevant to mine. I'm not saying facts don't matter--quite the opposite. I'm saying that ALL of the facts matter, including the previous context behind these protests. It is a fact that many people have claimed experience with racial slurs on campus beyond the "original spark" of the protest. It is a fact that people are receiving murder and rape threats for speaking out on this issue. It is a fact that Mizzou has a terrible reputation of not looking seriously into wrongdoing, even with alleged rapes--so why would you think there couldn't be a culture of impunity around racism? To be crystal clear: I welcome a search for the facts that will either prove or disprove very disturbing allegations beyond the original spark the media has taken as its dominant narrative of the unfolding events. Specifically: 1) students who claim racial slurs and homophobic epithets are a constant in their campus life 2) a faculty member who claims that other faculty members routinely call her the "N-word" 3) a faculty member who was spat on because of her race 4) disproportionate/rough treatment of minorities by campus security If some of those were proven, it would demonstrate that Mizzou has a culture that tolerates racism--and that this protest isn't just a "safe space" debate. Ridiculing "safe spaces" can't and won't solve a culture that tolerates racism. Segregation then becomes a symptom of that culture and not its cause.
I haven't deflected anything. You wanted facts, I presented you with a white student arrested and charged with terroristic threats. Investigate away. I find the people who love using the word narrative are the ones always trying to create one.
