You're correct Moreyball isn't iso ball, it's high percentage shots. 3's and 2's close to the basketball, foul shots no mid range. You can tell the same people this over and over and they will never admit it's Mchale. They will still blame Morey and the players. Never in my life would I have thought Clutchfans would have MOF's (Mchale only fans) that are just as worse as the LOF's ever were, lol.
I don't tho k Morey ball calls for isoing harden a million times a game. I think that's what the team falls back on when they don't have any answers and nothing else to go to. They just throw it to the best shot creator and watch him work. I think mchale's job is to get them to break that habit, but apparently he's either not realizing it's a problem or he does and has no idea what to do about it. I seriously doubt Morey is giving the directive to Iso Harden...or really anything coaching wise. Shooting layups, 3s, and fts primarily is not an issue. Being totally confused offensively, tentative, and playing street ball 90% of the game is a huge issue. The rockets have very little discipline and very little direction. The coach should provide that and the rockets lack it big time.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Moreyball is primarily about fast breaks, 3-pointers, dunks or layups, and getting to the foul line, right? That's James Harden's offense in a nutshell. He's either pushing it on the break, attacking the hoop in the halfcourt set and trying to draw the foul, or ISO'ing on the perimeter and usually taking a 3 late in the shotclock. And look, he's very good at most of that(not so much so far this season, but usually he is). The problem is that he dominates the ball so basically your ability to score points is riding on him having a good night. If he struggles, the team can lose to anyone, even the Nuggets and Nets at home(and quite badly I might add). That was excusable 3 years ago when Harden first got here and was surrounded by the likes of Asik, Lin, a rookie Parsons, Cisco, and Delfino. But now he's got Dwight, Thornton, Ariza, Harrell, Capela, and Lawson(and eventually D-Mo). That's a much more talented roster and one that has no business struggling much less losing to the Nets at home. The era of Harden heroball(whether a result of Morey's orders from above or McHale's ineptitude as a coach) has to end. If McHale is unable to utilize all this talent, bring in someone who will.
Bring in Morey but ****** already made an excuse that he cant coach because hes to busy looking for youngsters in Europe
After almost 10 games it's clear the Rockets will not playing anywhere close to the level that a contender plays at. This year is pretty much lost, maybe we get hot for a stretch but we will never beat the Warriors, Spurs probably Clippers or Thunder either if they're healthy in a 7 game series without HCA. After a likely first round exit I hope McHale is fired and then it's up to us to find the next Steve Kerr. This team reminds me of the Warriors a couple years ago. They overachieved in the playoffs the year before and came out looking pretty bad and lost to the Clippers in the 1st round.
Defense. It's the defense that fails the Rockets many times already. Offense is OK. Especially with Lawson picking up some chemistry with everybody else. Shooting touch comes and go, but you can always fall on defense if the attitude is there. And the Rockets do not have the attitude. The Players' coach can't do it.
I love when you do this. When have I said McHale is a good coach and not his fault at all? When has anybody said that? There's a difference between thinking he's flawless and not thinking he should be fired after every game.
Stan Van Gundy, coach and gm that has the Pistons playing hard. KERR, another coach/gm that is doing the most. Morey, a ****** closet coaching with 10 years of mediocrity.
Honest question, do people think McHale at this very moment feels worse than us fans do about a pathetic showing as this? Or do you think he's leaving the TC with a smirk on his face because he's still got a job?
he's the winningest coach in rockets history. les should give him another 3yr extension on top of the existing one before some other team tries to lure him away with a better roster..
I don't know what it is. Harden was playing with his head up his ass. And no one but Dwight was even trying on defense. Team is just pathetic right now.
I'm curious if McHale's heart is in this. I think he was motivated last year after the Portland loss(which frankly could've and should've cost him his job) and by the fact that his contract was up at the end of the season. Maybe he took his foot off the gas and isn't trying as hard this year.
