KJ should not think of this as a demotion. Capela and D-Mo benefited from playing in the D-League. His shooting, spacing, ball handling and overall defense can improve, but he will need to buy into that. I hope our D-League coaching will be up to the mark.
Only thing I did not like about his game this preseason was that he was jacking up too many 3's. I know the kid is athletic but it looked to me like he was being held back by playing in our system. I want to see him drive and take it in.
We need to create spacing by off ball player movement, not with 30% chuckers instead of 20% chuckers.
Kinda feel bad for him. Signing a new 3 year contract after your rookie season(guarantee Morey and mchale promised him playing time) to only get sent to the d-league
Better that he at least get some playing time somewhere. With the emergence of Thornton and McHale's loyalty to Brewer(who one would hope would eventually put together a few good games), there's simply no minutes for McDaniels.
He's trying to prove he can make them. In all fairness, he hasnt had a sample size large enough to prove it since coming here. It certainly cant be worse than brewers. I love corey though, plays 100mph and hard.
Troy Daniels will be the best shooter for the Rockets in the next 10 years. Isaiah Canaan will be our franchise PG whose way better than Steve Francis. Nick Johnson is a freak and should lead us to the promise land. Both Mchale and Morey are idiots for not playing these guys. And, of course, now we have KJ, the next brightest star in the NBA who got treated like a scrub again.
brewer is starting to annoy me i would have liked to see kj get some his minutes, he can some of the same things corey can do plus play better defense.. this is a mistake
#shouldvespentthatmoneyonJoshSmith #winnow ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Oops, I forgot. They couldn't promise playing time, instead sticking with Terrence LOLes & an injured PF with no timetable for return.
True. At the same time, I thought he looked lazy when settling for the 3, and didnt entertain the idea of maybe pump fake & drive on the defender. But yes, small sample size. I am just stating what I thought of it.
This is good. He needs minutes and time to develope, that's not going to happen on a contending team with a lot of veteran wings. He might be the highest paid player in the entire D-league right now... that should soften the blow.
This guy is still a mystery to me. If this guy has the kind of potential Rockets think he has, why not give him some minutes to develop during the horrid stretch Rockets were having especially given how bad Brewer has been?
Not trying to be negative nancy... K.J. (imo) won't ever be a contributor to our team. He's more likely to be traded. He's got tremendous "upside" but I just don't see it. I would gladly accept being wrong about this.
