We do need to win out for this season to be a success but even if we are the only unbeaten left, we won't make the playoff.

If we win out (the fact that we have Cincy/Memphis/Navy at home gives us a better shot to), we are in a NY6 bowl game (which would be absolutely huge for this school).

Our schedule will be solid at the end of the year (going through a strong American Conference and 2 P5's ooc) but the resume overall would not be anywhere near that of a champion of a power conference.

We scheduled Louisville when they were coming off a Sugar Bowl and joining the ACC, we scheduled Vandy after playing them in the BBVA Compass Bowl. We got kinda unlucky that both teams became quite worse after scheduling them but it is what it is.

From the eye test, Baylor does look like one of the best teams in the nation. Fact is, they don't have the resume of that (I thought the committee ranked them way too high, they should be below Memphis).

Regardless, their upcoming schedule is TOUGH and they will have every opportunity to get into the playoff.

We were left out because we had a loss. No way Baylor, Ok State, or TCU get left out if they go undefeated. It's not even worth mentioning.

    I agree ;)

Conferences don't matter -- schedules matter. Like it should be.

All seems good. Baylor should pass Iowa in the next few weeks but Iowa might pass them back if they can somehow beat Ohio state in the big 10 championship game.

UH finally has a decent opponent but Memphis isn't ranked that much higher than UH so I can't see it make a huge difference but teams ahead of them will start losing.

How is Temple and Memphis still ahead of UH... I don't understand!?
Temple has beaten NO ONE significant. Just because they put up a fight with Notre Dame?

Seriously? Memphis beat An Ole Miss team that is 7-3 in the SEC with a win over Alabama. How does Ole Miss compare to Tennessee Tech, Texas St and a Vanderbilt team that is historically the worst team in the SEC. If you seriously don't see why that should put them ahead of UH then you aren't thinking objectively. Temple is less clear. They have a win against a 7-3 Penn St. Yes, their close loss to Notre Dame also probably helps them but the point is that they have that loss because they scheduled a good non-conference team. That's UH's fans' problem this year. They think that since they have more wins then they should be ranked ahead of a team with a loss against a good team. That's why they scheduled easier non-conference games because that ranking method is what makes sense to them. I'm glad the committee disagrees.

I have no sympathy for Baylor (89th SOS) or UH (118th SOS) with how their schedule was this year.

Baylor has their shot coming up, if they beat OU/OSU/TCU....

I love UH and want them to do great things, but there's a strange sense of entitlement among a good portion of their fans that I just do not understand.

Unless the playoff expands, I seriously doubt that a non-power 5 conference team will ever make it.

Also, the Big 12 needs to expand asap to have a championship game.

I' don't think anyone on the committee understands their mandate, otherwise Ohio st would not be in there. I think they are misinterpreting eye test, and are not consistent on sos and upcoming sos, nailing Houston and Baylor to the wall, but not Ohio st. And what heck with Iowa. They are failing. Use a computer. People are morons.

I agree with Phi, the panel has been inconsistent with their explanations.

I also am starting to think they're making an example out of the Big 12. After what happened last year and now what I'm seeing today... Baylor's ranking I can live with, but OKST way down at 8 and TCU dropping that much - a bit drastic.

I still feel Baylor gets in if they take care of business (control their own destiny) but I'm starting to have some doubts. Oklahoma State probably doesn't get in if they care of business without other teams losing first.

I think it is fair to keep the defending champions in the top 4 until they lose a game. Same with Florida State last year.

I don't have a big problem with the rankings this week. If a Big 12 team wins out, they will pass Notre Dame and be in the playoff.

Baylor loses this week, Oklahoma State then goes undefeated - they're a lock? I don't think so.

A lot of them are just raging dumbasses, but there's a legit argument that the committee is treating schools with similar SOS differently based on nothing more than David Stern-eqse "basketball reasons".

Yes, if Oklahoma St beats Baylor and OU, they are in.

I don't see the committee giving the nod to a one-loss ND over an undefeated conference champion (even without a title game).

    Drastic?

TCU & OSU basically swapped places.

TCU went from 8 to 15.
OSU went from 14 to 8.

And TCU was blown out by 20.

Where should TCU & OSU be ranked? What does your top 5/10 look like?
