Dems vote for Dems, Repubs for Repubs, then who gets the rest? No other wacko Repub is getting the "others" when they're talking about deportation and lowering minimum wage. The reality is him and Christie are the only chance in the General and even that chance is tiny.
Is anyone talking about lowering the minimum wage, or just not raising it? Also, those who might get deported shouldn't be voting...
Yes and additionally when the other side is talking about raising it, staying put is effectively communicating lowering it. They won't, it's everyone else with human empathy traits who can and will vote. But again, GOP leadership & strategy is setup for a massive failure. They're trying to win a base that is growing smaller and weaker every year. Some GOP idiot will win the battle but not the war.
Yeah....that's not lowering it. Anyway, I get that raising the minimum wage is a great way to buy and mobilize the poor vote, because enough of them foolishly think that it will somehow help them long term, but I can't blame people who don't support that. Making $15 an hour too little to live on rather than whatever it is at right now being too little to live on doesn't really change anything for the better. Anyway, it doesn't sound like you'd be open to voting for a Republican anyway, so it shouldn't surprise you that you didn't hear what you wanted to hear....actual moderates might think otherwise and that's the demographic they care about, not you. You might as well be a Gen-X'er complaining about how you don't like the programming on MTV anymore.....they don't care what people outside of their target demographic think.
That seems intentionally obtuse and the logic can be easily flipped. Who else would the republicans vote for if he were the nominee? They certainly wouldn't vote for Hillary. You're also implying all moderates are self-hating liberals, that's not true either. Moderates by definition don't agree 100% with either position. I don't see why moderates wouldn't vote for Kasich in a general election. The republican apparatus needs to recognize the fact that the elections are won or lost at the margins, i.e. the swing states/voters. The republican base is voting republican no matter what in the general election. Kasich has an infinitely stronger chance picking up the moderate vote than any of the other candidates.
You add a word-- especially a modifier like "federal"-- and it clarifies the meaning, too. Did you really think this was instructional?
Republican Hispanic here going to vote for democrat for the first time. You can thank Trump's hatred spew for that.
good god, some of you really struggle with word definitions. Keeping the minimum wage the same is not lowering it. Keeping the minimum wage the same is not raising it. Quit twisting the logic to fit your agenda.
Technically he has a point Space Ghost in the thought process however the inflation data does not support a need to increase the wage at this current moment since 2015 was 0%. Raising the wage last happened in 2009 when inflation was 2.7. Inflation came down under 2 the next year but in 2011 it went back up to 3.0 but then tapered down to 0 % in 2015. In my opinion yes they should create standards for raising the wage if we see 3 consecutive years over 2% to catch up with inflation demand. But heck lets be realistic i am lucky to get a 2% raise each year and i have a good job. Therefore i don't expect the bottom workforce to get a bump even if inflation is consistently trending up.
If your good job includes health insurance, then you're likely getting a decent raise in your total income every year - it's just going to pay for the higher cost of your health plan instead of cash.
Yeah I actually have been consistently downgrading my health coverage each year since it is consistently going up. Even with the downgrades I am paying a lot more than i did pre obamacare but i am getting far less. Obama im still waiting for your promise that it will eventually level off the costs of healthcare.
Kasich would have the best shot in the general. Moderates have much better chances in swing states and he would seem to already have one of them (Ohio) in the bag. He's a popular 2-term Governor, he's served in congress, he's pro-military (18 years in the House Armed Services Committee), he has private sector experience (Lehman Brothers) and best of all....he's actually sane (this will be his downfall....). A Kashich/Rubio or even a Kasich/Paul ticket would go a long way in restoring my faith in the GOP. But I don't think that's going to happen because I heard the AM talk radio folks calling him a liberal this morning. He's pro-life, anti-Iran deal, anti-Obamacare, supports fighting ISIS in Iraq and Syria, and is a former Fox News commentator for crying out loud. But just because he expanded Medicaid in Ohio, he must be a socialist, Obama-supporting LIBERAL. Typical tea party logic.
Kasich is most likely positioning himself to be the VP pick, assuming Cruz/Carson don't win the nomination. VP's don't always bring their home states with them, but Kasich very well could bring Ohio, which is absolutely critical for the GOP. If Cruz/Carson win, that puts Rubio in play there since Florida has the same situation.
Here's what I learned. Republicans are all about class warfare, between big banks and small banks. Republicans don't want to raise the minimum wage because: it would be the equivalent of giving people everything they need, it would lead to a recession, and all the jobs will be automated. Republicans want to repeal everything Obama has every done, then repass all that legislation under a different name. Republicans want to "give people back their money" by using thousands of dollars of tax credits per person with absolutely no spending cuts, yet think this won't increase the deficit.
Since no one watched, here's a good summary: http://time.com/4107855/republican-debate-fox-milwaukee/
What? Not challenging the myriad of lies, distortions and half truths spewing out of the pie holes of a bunch of people who will never be president? good job....I guess
