Zach Randolph is a solid player. An all-star, and he is the real deal. Of course any fan would want him on the team! However, at what cost? Because Memphis won't trade him to the Rockets for our surplus talent. They'd be in it for the meat of the team that was outside of Dwight and Harden...... But at this stage of the game, what gaping hole would be left if the Rockets did pursue a Zach Randolph trade???????
Did Memphis win or lose that game? Who cares if he scores 26 pts, in general Z-bo isn't an effective scorer. He is scoring an abysmal 52.8 TS%, this means that he eats up possessions and doesn't really produce enough for his shots. And this is just offensively, defensively we all know he sucks because he's already old, Griffin dropped 24 and 12 on his ass too. I mean understand if you want a threat but if we're gonna get a threat then he better be amazing at scoring, like Blake Griffin for example that's the kind of threat you put in. If he's mediocre like ZBo why would you add him, he'll just clog the paint and make it harder for Dwight, Lawson and Harden to score. Just the mere fact that Memphis lost despite no one on the Clipps having a good shooting night (best was Blake going 9-19 and CP3 4-8) tells you all you need to know about a Z-Bo centric offense...it sucks.
Just as a side note, when old players are usually put on the trading block, this means they aren't as good as they used to be. Memphis wants to win, if they are trading ZBO this means he isn't any good anymore. Why would any team who wants to contend trade one of their core pieces for spare parts like DMo or Tjones? The reality is for most fans "the grass is greener on the other side", only when a player like ZBO lands on the team do you realize he actually sucks.
We don't even need Randolph. Soonest we could trade for him is January 15th. That would require us to add either Ariza, Beverley or Brewer. And such trades don't even make sense for Memphis. They might want Ariza though, but we are not making a hole at SF to make a questionable filling of a non existing hole at PF. By the time the trade can happen both DMo and Jones will be firing on all cylinders.
Bruh DMo's probably not as good you think he is. Is he a good guy? Yes. Is he likable? Ofcourse. But just because a guys likeable doesn't make him 3 or 4 notches more talented. ZBo is a CLEAR upgrade over all our PF's. We're talking about a elite post presence down low
I seriously think you are forgetting what year it is. Also, DMo looks a whole lot like an elite post presence down low....
Who cares what year it is? Zbo's still better & more durable player (even though y'all use his age against him). Comparing the 2 is almost comical. Zbo's a huge upgrade no matter what year we're in. I understand there's a weird emotional attachment to DMo here. But let's not get carried away
I'm not saying by any stretch that I believe in the Kings or their owner/gm/coach. What I am saying though is that the bottom couple spots in the playoff race might be more wide open than we thought. -GS -SAS -HOU -LAL -OKC after that you will have three of these teams looking at an available playoff spot- -NOLA (injuries look to be killing them) -Mem (what is going on here?) -Phoenix -Minn -Port -Dallas -Nuggets -Sac -Utah I could see a world right now where Utah, Minn, and Sac are built the best to make a 2nd half of the season run. I would also see a world where its the Mavs, Mem, and NOLA once again, but right now it looks wide open for some of those previously crappy teams to get in the mix. If that's the case, I could def. see the Kings looking to trade for anyone and everyone that they've heard of before.
If any of those teams could benefit the most from making small moves for a 2nd half push, it's the Wolves. They have the talent, but have a bunch of selfish black hole players in Wiggins/Lavine/K-Mart/Shabazz. Every single one of them don't know how to play within a system and don't make their teammates better the way that KAT and Rubio do. Wiggins is the talent you definitely keep and your future leading perimeter scorer next to KAT. There is a lot of trade value in Lavine/K-Mart/Shabazz, so I think those three need to be traded in separate deals for great role players. If that happens, they will have a great 2nd half and make the playoffs.
Randolph is a beast who still has the ability to take over a game when our other guys are off. At this point in his career, his overall stats probably aren't going to be that much better than Jones and/or D-mo if they are healthy and playing well, but he is a much more consistent player. I'd consider him a plus guy mentally and on leadership after how he has evolved through his career. The biggest weakness of the Rockets is regularly giving up long unanswered runs to the other team. I think that happens a lot less often with Randolph in the post. In isolation I do not think he is that much better than our PFs, but I think the team would be much better with him.

Just remember who told you about Z-Bo taking his game to the next level over four years ago in this prophetic thread: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=199587
He wouldn't fit well defensively here at all. We switch everything on defense too much for him. Teams would abuse him constantly
<iframe width="560" height="315" src=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-9vIaMhm90" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Let's rely on one game and trade D-mo + TJ + a first for Josh Smith.
I would take Zbo over Jones ALL DAY LOOONG. All we need him to do is soak up rebounds like a sponge and score around the bucket. This is a no brainer. Memphis wouldn't do it tho..they'd be crazy. Due to DMO's potential upside post recovery remains to be seen hence I wouldn't trade DMO yet..but Jones all day
