    Cool.. I can respect that...

But I think people on the board need to understand the seriousness of DMo's surgery. It seems a lot of people on this board act as if DMo just sprained an ankle.

Morey has a lot to consider, this could be DMo and Jones last year in a Rocket uniform. I just can't see Morey extending a contract to DMo until the summer and if he has any kind of setback I don't see Morey extending a contract at all.

He doesn't matter if it's Howard or Larry Bird...

It's a freaking back injury where the man had to have surgery...

At this point it's better to have Dmo play just a bit and then dangle him in a package trade deal to acquire somebody like Ryan Anderson...

I've had 3. I was back on the court on the 90th day after the first. (Believed to be why I had the 2nd. And 3rd.)

All people, all operations are different. Arm chair medicalizing is an exercise in silly futility.

    I get you xiki,

I've had 6 knee surgeries and i was back on the court in about 4 months with an ACL tear, MCL tear and Patella release... But there's a difference between all the surgeries that I had and playing on the weekend with other non professionals then with guys who make this their living.

If you guys want to call it being an arm chair doctor then so be it.... But for an athlete to go under the knife for any reason, no matter what it has to be serious.

When you start talking about back and knees, you start talking about body parts that can either cut your career short or end it. Sorry that I am not going with the crowd and believing that DMo is going to come back like nothing ever happened, but he has a long trail ahead of him.

The fact that he plays on the low post is not going to help the situation at all. Like you stated all surgeries are different and all recoveries are different. DMo could come back sooner or he could be out a lot longer... Back injuries and surgeries are no joke.

That's very true. I had failed back surgery years ago that resulted in chronic pain I still suffer from today, and it's hard to step back and not compare my result to guys like Donuts. Yes, a comparison makes no sense, Donatas being a tremendous athlete with a problem and surgery much different than mine, no doubt, and a level of care that's vastly superior (don't doubt about that at all!), so I try to not compare my own lousy state to his. I just want the guy healthy and on the court. We need him. Like yesterday.

And DMo has already been out longer than Howard was coming back from the same injury. They are taking it extremely slow making sure he's back at 90% before returning to practice so that there is little to no chance that he gets hurt again...because it's pretty clear that he's the PF of the future for the franchise.

People shouldn't speak in certainties with such conviction when it comes to medical procedures they are not qualified to speak on.

The only way we fans will know what type of condition D-Mo will be in this season is from seeing it when he gets back on the court.

It appears they're being EXTRA Cautious on DMO...if we see him on the court then the Med Staff feels he's ready including the coaches and Morey tho obviously it's up to the Med Staff and Doctors

Is there any timeline for DMo yet?
I'm sure I read weeks ago he was back training and sprinting. Assuming I'm correct, wouldn't it just be a case of him getting some fitness back?

I can roll with all that you're saying except for that one part....

The only person on the Rocket team that is the future is James....

    Everybody else is an asset..

If they didn't view DMo as the PF of the future, they wouldn't be this careful with him....there'd be no reason to.

    He's an asset...

Of course they are going to take care of him...

    He will either..

    a) Provide some help on the court.

    b) Trade bait to get someone back who will provide help on the court.

What you stated made no sense what so ever.

Some serious short term memory with posters wanting to trade him. Before his injury, he was our power forward of the future. He was clearly our best offensive post weapon, something we have very little of now with him out and was a positive on defense.

Let's see how he does when he comes back before puling a trigger on a trade that we might regret.

Very well said. The only way Dmo goes is for a superstar.

If he was just an asset you'd want him on the court as soon as possible and you'd risk his long term health for bulking up his short term trade value and the benefits of having him on the team.

If he was just an asset, he'd be on the court right now.
