It's actually true. You think Pop is beloved by all Spurs fan? You think they don't have a "what have you done for me lately mentality'?
When things are not going as expected fans will result to bashing the coaching and everything else. It's called fandom 101
If you read back a couple posts you'd know I agree that some people don't like Popp. Like I said earlier some fans will like you some won't. The problem I had with your post is sometimes there is a large percentage of fans who hate one coach and a small percentage who hate another. There are a hand full of Spurs fans who probably hate Popps coaching and Mchale has a 600 page thread, lol. Also I think people blame the players first. If you are not sensitive to how coaches are treated you can look at all of the trade this player and trade that player threads. Read the game thread most are complaints on Harden being cold or Brewer sucking, why isn't Lawson being aggressive? etc.etc.etc.
That's not really what he said though, lol. He said they blame the coaches first, that's not always true. I would say it's not true most of the time.
Hey big timer I beat the Thunder fans are crying fire their coach as well. Three game losing streaks brings the worse out of fans for sure. Lol
A starting lineup of Lawson/Harden/Thornton/Ariza/Howard. Having Ariza and Harden share in defending Griffin. That's some creative coaching going on there.
The difference is that suggesting to trade a player can at least be backed up by facts, like stats. Blaming a coach is always pure conjecture. There's no way to know if someone is coaching poorly or not because you can never know how an alternate decision would have worked. It's just lazy analysis and what the majority will resort to when they're mad and can't think of anyone/thing else to blame.
Again I don't believe in this either. If you know what a coaches job is (which a lot of people of who defend seem not to know) and you know basketball then you can tell the things that are not going well within a coaches job. One thing I can point to is Thornton not playing the first two games. Another thing would be the lack of a timeout last night before the opposing team goes on a 16-0 run. If you call that conjecture then criticizing a player is also conjecture because maybe other things are going on with that player and we don't have all the information.
I'm sure at least 90% of Spurs fans LOVE Popovich. When 90% of a fan base is AGAINST a coach...they may be on to something.
We are so fortunate to have such great intelligence on this forum to explain this complex issue to us...it must be difficult for you to address us mere mortals who "a lot of people of who defend seem..." LOL. McHale haters are having a tough time making their point today, LOL.
They are fair to. Doc's a ****ing idiot too. He's just got that ring which was more so Thib based and having a primetime KG/Pierce/Ray Allen. He's a stupider GM than coach. But it's not relative here, LAC's coaching/GM situation has no bearing on McHale's incompetence. So I don't know why bringing him into this is worth it.
Clippers fans think he is a better GM than coach right now. It's relative here because you have people who are defending Mchale saying that they are embarrassed at the way this board treats him, saying things like "only on Clutchfans" as if we are any different than any other board with a bad coach. They discuss Doc's bad coaching a lot over there too and with good reason.
Winning and below average coaching are not mutually exclusive. This team is winning on Jordanesque level play by Harden the last few games. This team has literally no offense outside Harden creating something. Championship level teams win games even when their star players struglle because a system is in place to get average talent good looks consistently.
