Building an Empire here! I was surprised Jackson was getting so many carries in the bad weather. Farrow seemed like an afterthought. As for Jackson3 I think his replacement was generally in position, but clearly was afraid to challenge the ball in the air. He'll need to get more aggressive next week for sure against the pretenders.
Good. That #24 that took his place is straight trash. Definitely need William back for the Memphis game
Navy is a good team, and the triple option is always a total ***** to suddenly learn to defend. Not surprised Memphis lost. Memphis and Navy will present us with two very distinct and very difficult challenges. No reason Memphis shouldn't be SRO.
SB Nation has us projected to play Ohio State in the Peach Bowl. What a story that would be, Urban Meyer vs Tom Herman.
I'll give Winchester a pass. Redshirt freshman who played safety in high school. Going to take some time for him to get used to cornerback at the college level. Might have to move Lee Hightower back at CB.
Four teams from the conference ranked this week: 16) Houston 21) Temple 22) Navy 25) Memphis Impressive!
Attendance is improving and will continue to improve. Look at the current students' involvement. The student section has never been like this because the campus is light years from where it was even ten years ago. Khator has fundamentally changed UH. Based on age and disposable income, the alumni that should be more present are those that graduated in the nineties and early 2000s. But they attended a university with, for the most part, lazy leadership. That attitude was passed down to the faculty and students who generally treated the campus like a fast food place. Just drive by and get your degree. Through new hires, construction, academic programs/incentives (that should have been in place years ago), tougher admission standards, the university has changed its culture. When UH moves on to a "P5" conference in the next couple of years, of course the casual fan and fair weather folk will boost attendance. But there will be a growing base of season-ticket holders and donors because of the work done over the last seven years by some Indian broad from USF. I think she has one of the highest salaries in the state (for a university president). She's worth every penny.
What are the cheers and yells at the game? Grad student here. It was cool, not Kyle Field cool, but still a blast. Also, if it rains, Memphis will not be SRO. As for the game strategy, I really hope they can establish the run against Memphis' weak ass D. If the Coogs get into a straight up air war with Ward Jr. vs. Lynch, it's going to be dicey. There will be spectacular plays on both sides, but Memphis passing attack is better in those let it fly type games.
The womp womp is awesome. My favorite part of going to the game. "C-O-U-G-A-R-S.....it's all about the COUGARS (FYI a lot of us say MUTHA****ING COUGARS)
