So, in other words, Carson was wrong, as were you. It's interesting that you think 10+ years in state government is the equivalent of no experience. Yup, that's exactly what you did. It's what you always do because your points are universally wrong and you have to backtrack to come up with some semblence of a statement that makes sense. I will agree with you that if Carson said your version of what he said, you might have a point. The problem is that he didn't. You completely made up your own version of his statement to defend him. You're as much of a sociopath as he is.
Here is the edited FaceBook post which I think better represents his position. Recent history shows us that one "must" either be an elected federal official (more probably US Senator or VP) or have been a state governor (Carter, Clinton, Bush) to be elected president... even though it is NOT A REQUIREMENT. Carson is simply saying if they (founders) can do it, I can do it. https://www.facebook.com/realbencarson/posts/549786315187839 Tonight, going through all of your questions, I wanted to touch on a few issues that seem to be asked by many people. I would like to deal with one question tonight in some detail. The issue is experience. Several people ask what they should tell their friends when people say “I like Carson but he has no political experience”. You are absolutely right — I have no political experience. The current Members of Congress have a combined 8,700 years of political experience. Are we sure political experience is what we need. Every signer of the Declaration of Independence had no federal elected office experience. What they had was a deep belief that freedom is a gift from God. They had a determination to rise up against a tyrannical King. They were willing to risk all they had, even their lives, to be free. Today we find ourselves with an entire class of politicians. No one in Philadelphia, during that summer our nation was born, dreamed that service was a career with a pension. America was the land of the Citizen Statesmen. They were merchants, lawyers, farmers — and yes, even doctors. They were willing to stand for freedom. Today, the political class stands in the way, not for the people. They demand pensions and perks. This is not what our Founders envisioned for America. I spent my life treating very ill children. Over 15,000 times I gave my all to prolong their lives. I was blessed to do it. But when it came time for me to retire, I simply could not sit back any longer. These children became my family. What our government is doing to them is outrageous. I am prepared to risk all that I have to try and make a difference in their future. I built one of the nation’s best medical centers. I served for two decades on the boards of Costco and Kellogg. I built a national scholarship program. My experience is very different than what we have come to expect. I grew up poor. I know what it is like to be homeless and hungry. I know the pain of poverty. I also know that education and a mother’s love can be the path out of dire poverty. I know what it is like to see water fountains you are not allowed to drink out of because of your skin color. I also know that once you peel back the skin, the brain is the same no matter what your skin color or continent you live on. I know that victimhood is a trap. I know that it is our Christian responsibility to offer those less fortunate a hand up. I know my faith is strong and my ego is small. I know that my path to the White House is different than most. But I also know I bring all of the pain and joy, the success and failure, the lessons learned through love and sorrow in my life’s journey. Bill Clinton was famous for saying “I feel your pain” — well, I have walked in your shoes. I do not have political experience, I have a life journey. A journey that not only made it possible for me to relate to so many different people, but also one where time and time again I was told I would fail, only to succeed. My candidacy is different, that I grant you. I have neither Donald Trump’s money or Jeb Bush’s political network. However, I wouldn't trade a single child I treated for all of Trump’s money. While I admire the Bush family’s dedication to service, I too served — nights, weekends, holidays, birthdays and anniversaries with severely injured patients were my public service. I didn’t go to embassy cocktail parties or beg lobbyists for money. I spent night after night in a quiet, sterile room trying to save the life of a small child. That was my life’s service. This is my life’s experience. What I have is a lifetime of caring, integrity and honesty. I have experienced the American Dream. No where in the world, other than America, could a man whose ancestors were slaves, rise to become a leading brain surgeon and one day seek the Office of President. The very fact that I am running is testament to the greatness of America. If all you want is political experience then I cannot be your candidate. Thank you for staying up with me. Goodnight, Ben
Are you so steeped in politics that you have lost perspective? Here's another history lesson for you: Is a presidential candidate required to have held elective office prior to running for president? I know you know, but you seem to have forgotten the meaning and import of that.
By ****hole, do you mean the richest, most productive, most powerful nation the world has ever known?
LOL. Why do you think the edited version where he added "federal" after he was called out for lying is the one that "better represents" his position? You continue to just make things up. Of course he edits it after people point out that he's making stuff up. He added "federal" to the post because he know it was impossible to have federal experience since there was no country yet. You two seem made for each other - you both change your arguments and stories every time people point out that you're clueless. So now it's federal OR governor? You seem to be unable to get your own story straight - this is what happens when you try to make the facts fit the story you want to tell. Besides, not even this version is true - Eisenhower had no political background at all.
Ben Carson in speech: "Without Fox News, the United States would turn into Cuba". CNN anchor: "Do you hoently believe without Fox news, the US would turn into a communist state?" Ben Carson: " When did I say that?" That isn't even spin. It's a flat out lie.
Lying? Are you kidding me? This is like twelve year olds arguing. This was a FB post not a treatise on government. His shorthand comment was too "short" so he updated it for clarity. His very valid point was that one need not have federal experience to hold a federal office. Indeed, as I pointed out to FranchiseBlade, it is still no requirement in this land of ours. Enjoy your little tizzy but watch your blood pressure! The reference to federal office or governorships was a direct reference to the past thirty years or so of actually elected presidents, dumbass.
You do understand that YOU'RE MAKING THIS UP, right? Odd "valid" point to make, given that every single person who's ever held federal office once did so without any federal experience, without exception. So you created an arbitrary time frame to justify an irrelevant claim ... why exactly?
US News & World Report op/ed: Carson should quit... http://www.usnews.com/opinion/blogs/peter-roff/2015/11/06/ben-carson-should-quit-the-2016-presidential-race
Of all presidential candidates, I have been old enough to vote for..Ben Carson has been the most roasted candidate ever. Now we have a US news article just telling him to bow out. Is he really this big of a threat to Hillary??? Does he truly challenge the current establishment. I find it ironic that he was barely a blip on everyone radar 6 months ago...and now is suddenly a threat? How can this be? My theory is that this ruthless attack on Ben Carson was a result of the backlash MSNBC received for their terrible Republican debate forum. I have never seen the media go at someone quite like this. He is black, conservative, and resonates with the base of the democratic party (impoverished black/white/hispanic and asian Americans). He's grown from poverty and became a freaking neurosurgeon. Just take a moment and think about that. Dont know how all of this will pan out, but the very fact that the media is trying to crucify him...means to me that he is making many in the democratic party truly worried about losing their political base.
Please! You let us all know when Carson is depicted as a pygmy with a bone through his nose or a black Sambo munching on watermelon and fried chicken. Carson has seen nothing like what was thrown at Obama. No, all of this Carson has brought on himself. And it goes much further back than the debates. The man is a sociopath. To say he's a threat to Hillary is laughable
1. Telling a candidate to bow out is not necessarily related to any other candidate. 2. MSNBC did not stage the "terrible Republican debate." 3. "The media" is not equal to the Democratic Party. The media is a generally a bunch of well-paid white people, not your "base of the democratic party (impoverished black/white/hispanic and asian Americans)."
4. Occam's Razor would suggest that in the heat of a primary contest, a lot of the background research to take out the current forerunner is from other GOP candidates' camps. 5. There's just no way any part of the DNC is worried about a Carson presidential run. It has implosion written all over it. If the DNC was going to go after someone, I would be on them going after Rubio. I truly think he could beat HRC.
Wow, so much wrong in this post. And just so you know, Roff was the political director for GOPAC, the Newt Gingrich political action committee.
Please do specify which media outlet used racial slurs against President Obama...Like I said, i dont know how he will phase himself from this media blitz...but time shall tell. 1. Telling a candidate to BOW out when leading national polls IS about his ability to resonate well with his party...And if he is doing well...it is absolutely related to how other candidates view him: as a threat. 2. Meant CNBC...and merged the two sources. Sorry. My bad. 3. Spoiler <iframe width="590" height="332" src="http://launch.newsinc.com/?type=VideoPlayer/Single&widgetId=1&trackingGroup=69016&siteSection=breitbartprivate&videoId=29890884" frameborder="no" scrolling="no" noresize marginwidth="0" marginheight="0"></iframe> 4. Possibly, but unlikely...heck even Trump hopes that Carson gets out of this well. 5. I too like Rubio...seems like a nice candidate. That being said, something is working with Carson's campaign. He resonates with the general American Public. Its hard to do that, especially in these times. American favorability in the US government is still at an all time low. Amidst such disdain, people see something in him. That can't be denied as real reverberation among the base of the democratic voting party.
Was yesterday your 18th birthday? If so, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! If not, then you simply have never paid attention to any political race in any place ever throughout the history of the world. Carson is getting the treatment of someone who is currently leading in the polls. Yes, the scrutiny is high...as it should be for someone running to be the most powerful person in the world. Yes, it does matter that he seems to misremember his own life history quite often and doesn't think that matters. It's up to the media to ask these questions. It's up to the voters to use the information in any way they deem fit. If you don't think it matters that he can't seem to tell a story the same way twice, then that is your choice. Carson is the current leader for the republican nomination for President of the United States. If you don't think that requires a large amount of scrutiny, no matter who the candidate or the party, then I'm truly concerned about your life choices. Lastly, I find it hilarious and cute that the right thinks these stories are coming out of some kind of fear of Carson from the left. These are opposition research pieces from his current competition...not future competition.
Rush Limbaugh's "Barack the Magic Negro" Michael Savage has presented all sorts of racist attacks on Obama, accusing him wanting to deputize Crips and Bloods. Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly and Mark Levine have all attacked both President Obama and Mrs. Obama for being "angry" and being "race baiters."
You do understand that was how Carson edited his post. Originally there was no mention of Federal govt. experience. After adding that Carson looks even worse than he did before since that was obvious. It is just like saying he's qualified because like the signers of the Declaration of Independence he's qualified because he wasn't a pilot just like those guys. What a stupid point to make. And what a stupid point to defend. It literally addresses nothing.
