Duarte said he imagines Herman has a 30% chance of leaving. If UH is willing to renegotiate his contract, I'm sure he's more likely to stay. Also, UH seems to be moving forward with building an indoor practice facility, which is one of Herman's top demands. Everything looks like it's progressing in the right direction, but it's way too early to tell. WE NEED TO PACK TDECU FOR THESE LAST HOME GAMES. IF YOU'RE AN ALUM, GET YOUR ASS TO THE STADIUM. I'll be tailgating in the architecture parking lot, and then with some frat buddies around noon. If you see me, come up, and I'll hand you a beer
^agreed...i graduated in may and i still bought season tickets and i will till the day i die. Students are doing their part coming to the games. it's the alumni that needs to come to the games. we need to fill up and soon
The only thing that will never be up to snuff is our attendance. It's simply the nature of being an urban school vs. a rural school. UH has changed its culture dramatically the last 15 years, but there will always be "something else to do" and a larger population of non-traditional students that will keep the ceiling low. I believe we will eventually build up to our capacity (40K) in 3-5 years time if we're successful. But without membership in a marquee conference, that is probably where we will max out, even if we expand our stadium (which probably won't happen unless we get that magical P5 invite). Some of our peers (2014 rough estimates): UCLA - 75K USC - 75K Pitt - 41K Miami - 52K Cinci - 30K TCU - 44K SMU - 21K Maryland - 46K Cal - 47K Washington - 64K Northwestern - 38K Temple - 30K Rutgers - 50K Boston College - 34K Arizona - 50K Memphis - 30K
I feel like outside circumstances has really been screwing our attendance. A few thousand more people would have shown up for Vandy if it wasn't raining. Rain will probably diminish our attendance tomorrow as well. The game against SMU was competing with Astros playoffs and the Texans game. The Memphis game is probably gonna be a packed house though.
Make no mistake, we're fortunate to be averaging over 30K given the absolute crap sandwich we've had for a schedule... FCS Sun Belt SMU on a Thursday vs Pro teams Vanderbilt on a rainy Halloween night The final 4 games of the year are going to be over 35K each though. Should be a strong finish.
FWIW: <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Report: Houston's Herman is 'clear leading candidate' for South Carolina job. <a href="https://t.co/4gu24Do2wo">https://t.co/4gu24Do2wo</a> <a href="https://t.co/ZiNSStu7yu">pic.twitter.com/ZiNSStu7yu</a></p>— FOX College Football (@CFBONFOX) <a href="https://twitter.com/CFBONFOX/status/662743992136634368">November 6, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> Seems the attendance thing really gets to Herman. Almost weekly he's asked or talking about it. Reporter: Were you impressed with the 29K (or whatever it was) against Vanderbilt? TH: You call that impressive? Seriously?
I just got a chance to read Duarte's Q&A: http://blog.chron.com/sportsupdate/2015/11/talk-cougars-with-joseph-duarte-on-thursday/
USCe is such a weird fit for Herman. USC i can see, but not south carolina. They need to back off and hire Justin Fuente. lol
Yeah, I'm surprised Fuente and Rhule from Temple aren't in more rumors. I guess it's Herman winning a championship with tOSU that seals it.
Really depends on what the big wigs know behind the scenes. Herman has done well and has a chance to build a program from scratch the way he wants on top of being able to make equal bank with the ability to join a major conference in a year or two. If it's still nothing but smoke then he'll bolt just like Briles did to powerhouse Baylor with all of their traditions, big stadium and history of high profile commitments.
Off the top I dont know, but I can get that info for you. I remember our AD mentioned it before the season began
Wouldn't look too much into it this year, his name will come up for any opening. If we aren't selling out games next year I'll start to worry.
Ryan Jackson out for season. Sucks his UH career has ended. Next man up time. Javin Webb can replace his production
Houston sports always cursed with injuries. Bunch of o-line out, ryan jackson out, william jackson III hurt remember last year when daniel spencer went out too and the other linebacker.
I go to UT, but I grew up following UH football. Great to see Herman leading the team to an undefeated season so far. Worried about Navy especially - the lack of push on the line on both sides of the ball is concerning. I will be at the Memphis game, and I am looking forward to it! The team deserves a big turnout.
He came from Ohio State to U of H. http://www.azcentral.com/story/spor...st-2014-average-football-attendance/27336369/ their average attendance a few years ago was north of 106K.
