I find this post intellectually offensive. No one said they would be yes men. I assume you would be happier if he said, "We've actually been browsing message boards to see what the fans think we should do, and we'll start running our franchise based off that." Texans let BOB and Smith do their job: "This is a good ol' boys club, nothing will ever get done!" Texans bring in people besides BOB and Smith to evaluate the team: "They're just going to tell them what they want to hear! Nothing will ever get done!" I can't wait for the Texans to win their first Super Bowl, not just for my own personal enjoyment, but so that every person that ever had the nerve to say, "This Texans franchise is totally pathetic, they've never done anything and never will do anything" can eat a hot, steaming bowl of dicks. For the record, I think Rick Smith's draft record has been just short of horrendous, and I think we absolutely need a change at GM. But my pubes are older than this franchise, chill the **** out.
If you're a consultant getting paid big bucks to advise the Texans and you wanted to get the gig again next year, then you saw that Rick Smith is Godfather to Cal McNair's kid, would you advocate firing him? But anyways, now we have another layer of who to blame. Maybe we should just fire the consultants and give Rick and Bob another chance? I've been a supporter of the Astros and Rockets FO despite them not winning anything yet. I'm not aware of Les or Crane using consultants to help him decide "what went wrong."
