NYK would not pay Lopez 12M to back up Howard plus pay Howard 22+M. The only way they would possibly trade is if Lopez was part of the trade. Lopez is worth 12M a year IMO. If Melo wants out maybe something like this may happen... We can only dream

BasketballHolic or others, how much would it take to acquire Shabazz Muhammad? Very versatile offensive player off the bench, could be awesome behind Ariza. Hasn't shot that well this year in limited minutes which means he could be available, good three point shooter. Has length and can rebound. Thoughts?
Tjones and any non starter(besides bev or Capela preferably not Thornton) for Marvin Williams or tjones+pick for Kaminsky. They have two spread the floor pf. We could take one off their hands, doesn't matter who. I think either one would be significant upgrade at the 4 for shooting, spreading the floor, rebounding, and defense. When Dmo comes back have a 4 man big rotation w/ swap in small ball relive some of Howard's minutes and run some small ball too especially if willing to deal Williams.
Targets: Kaminsky, M. Williams, Sullinger, Mirotic, J. Green, R. Anderson Outgoing Possibilities: tjones, Brewer, Dekker, Harrell, Hayes, Picks Don't know how these contracts play out for Durant chase if we are still putting chips in that basket.
Rockets out: Terrence Jones, KJ McDaniels, Future 1st Rockets in: Markieff Morris, Archie Goodwin (taken in with TPE) This is assuming the wheels fall of in PHX between now and February and they are no longer competing for a playoff spot. Feel like 'Kieff could provide us with both tough rebounding to complement Motiejunas and capable of spreading the floor next to Dwight/Capela. Not to mention he has a reliable post game and passing and he actually would want to come here. Goodwin is a decent talent buried in Phoenix's rotation, used for salary matching purposes. Suns get a younger (23 vs 26) PF who isn't a malcontent and who provides a versatile boost in the FC. Used to playing next to a defensive center, and with no true star on the team, Phoenix may bet on him breaking out into a 20/10 threat. KJ McDaniels is a young athletic stud, who projects as a defensive specialist. He and TJ Warren may be the future of the SF position in Arizona, as Tucker grows older and possibly traded to a contender (he is 30; TJ & KJ are 22) . The pick is necessary to seal the deal.
I really like Marvin Williams, both for his game and contract. 53% of his FG attempts were 3s last year, and he's very efficient inside the paint. He expires next summer, so we would maintain our flexibility to pursue Durant and Horford. The issue is trading for him. He's making $7 million, which means we need to send out a minimum of $5.6 million to make the trade work. TJones + McDaniels works, but it feels like we are giving up too much. I'd rather trade TJones and Brewer, bringing in a 3rd team to facilitate the trade.
Would Morey take a potential hit to this team in 2015-16 if he thought it would get us one step closer to Durant? Would Morey, say, trade for Eric Gordon's (and even Norris Cole's) expiring contract(s) (and, presumably, a first round draft pick) if he knew that Durant wanted to play alongside Harden again (barring OKC winning it all and Durant having a change of heart)?
I don't think so. We've got a contending team right now. We need to gel and maybe need to make one more move (trade for a shooting PF?) but we have what it takes. An MVP level player, a defensive anchor, a dynamic PG, and several role players who are successful at what they do. I don't think we should punt on this season just because MAYBE Durant will come. If OKC wins or he chooses Washington, we're screwed. Howard won't keep up his play forever.
I agree, but if certain players emerge and you still have a need to fill a need at PF, then you can address both the need and increase cap flexibility. For example, let's say Dekker or McDaniels emerge as a legit backup to Ariza....you can trade Brewer, which eliminates his $8 cap hit next summer.
I generally agree that we need to compete, to take advantage of this season and not ruin it on the chance of Durant coming here. But you know how Morey and so many posters here love the "f" word (11 letters, has an "x" in it, ends with "lity").
. Good idea I think it's a real possibility if contracts matchup which I'm not sure if they do or don't.
With the Pelicans' start, might be time to inquire about Anderson again....time to go all in, especially if Morey has inside knowledge that KD may come here.
Yea 0 and 5 in the wild wild west is hard to overcome i think NOP will be sellers and will be selling hard around late Dec. early Jan.
Ryan Anderson would be great for spacing the floor, despite his defensive and rebounding shortcomings.
No. His value is only going to increase. It's too soon (if ever) to consider trading such a talented young player.
Houston Ryan Anderson Kevin Martin New Orleans Corey Brewer Terrence Jones Minnesota KJ McDaniels Sam Dekker Beverley / Lawson / Terry Harden / Thornton Ariza / Martin Anderson / Dmo / Hayes Dwight / Capella
^^^that would be a HUGE shooting boost, which we really need...but i thought Martin didn't want to come back here? I can't remember if Cyberx said that or if I read it in an article.
