Agreed. When Obi-Wan is desperately crying out "You were the chosen one!" in III, I imagine that he's basically talking about all the prequels and how disappointed he was.
I enjoy the prequels and so do my kids. Peter Jackson doesn't get enough criticism for ROTK and those crap prequels.
I'm glad for you guys, but it doesn't really change anything. Not sure what rotk and the hobbit has to do with anything, but it feels like I've read plenty of criticism for em.
I brought up the Plinkett reviews in the "I haven't seen Star Wars" thread and just watched all 3 again. Best thing to come out of the prequels, hands down.
Because you made mention if it was a lesser franchise and I was providing an example. Maybe I'm just not informed enough on The Hobbit stuff to have been exposed to the criticism. As far as Star Wars and its prequels there is plenty to complain about, but I think there is plenty that makes it equally important to the Star Wars Universe.

NEW TRAILER!! <iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/SdAUiyeJMFQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Holy Shnikeys! Wow, there was a lot of NEW in that one! Looking better and better.. May have to just freeze myself!
You mean the whole Empire vs. Rebels and light vs. dark side of the force stuff? Perhaps they should make it a Rom-Com (well, they kind of did already with the hilarious wooden dialogue between AS and Padme in EPS II-III)
I mean they just switched the genders for the Luke character, and made a new villain who looks like a slightly remixed Vader. The chick is doing nothing on some obscure desert, like Luke. And gets tapped for an adventure, like Luke.
I don't know if I'll be able to do it, but I'm going to try to avoid seeing any more footage from the movie until I actually see it. So I will just take yalls word for it that the new trailer is noice.
Yeah, it does to me as well. This looks a lot like Empire & Return of the Jedi sort of smushed together with much better CGI. Instead of R2D2 you have that rolling droid thing. Instead of young Luke Skywalker, you have that girl. Instead of Darth Vader you have the Sith guy in the armor. And what perturbs me the most is that it's 25 years later yet the ships (Tie Fighters, X-Wing Fighters) and weapons are all the same - something I find somewhat illogical. It does look gorgeous but the story line appears to break no new ground.
We really don't even know what the story line even is yet. The Tie Fighters look different to me, maybe more glass? I'm actually glad the ships, weapons and stormtroopers look the same (although the stormtroopers do look slightly different). That was one of my problems with the prequels. Clones instead of stormtroopers has always bothered me. Didn't do a good job of connecting them to the original movies at all. On the trailer, that lightsaber looks and sounds different. And stormtroopers with flame throwers!
The new bad guy looks too much like the black knight. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/zKhEw7nD9C4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
What exactly do you want? More trade federation deliberations? Also, having similar ships with just slightly upgraded modifications is far more accurate than what the prequels did (showcasing far more advanced technological ships that allofasudden disappeared?). How much have U.S. Aircraft carriers, fighter jets, and subs really changed in the last 30 years? Sure, there's newer fighter models and the new/old stealth series, but the older models are largely the same and very much still in use.
Just because X-Wings have the same shape, doesn't mean they are the same ships. The US military is still using jets introduced in the 70's.
