Shields is not much better than McHugh at right now.

    I prefer Kazmir

Go post this on the Mariners or Rays web site. This has nothing to do with the Astros.

Last time I checked the Mariners are in the same division with the Astros, then again, I may be wrong

It is still not Astros news. In the same vein, the Yankees are in the same league and the Pirates the same sport. Should all of their transactions be listed? This should go into the "Other Sports" forum where general baseball news is discussed.

And some of you guys have to whine about EVERYTHING???

Why i believe this is important?

Mariners will get a good pitcher, and now the rotation is going to look better for next year.

    1. King Felix (1.160)
    2. Iwakuma (1.064)
    3. Walker (1.196)
    4. Paxton (if healthy)
    5. Karn (1.279)

    Our rotation
    1. K (1.017) (same as Iwakuma)
    2. McCullers (1.186) same as King Felix
    3. McHugh (1.277) same as Karn
    4. Fiers (1.059)

Meaning, Mariners have a very good rotation, and that means, Astros will go after a Free Agency for our rotation, probably, Kazmir, lets see.

Guys, PLEASE, talk baseball, is too obvious the bullying you are DOING, trying to make me quit for TALKING BASEBALL.

I like all those picks, but i would also pick Sipp, for me is a must as he would be the only lefty in our bullpen.

I don't mind Davis as we can use Reed as a DH when ready.

Davis is a legit number 4 hitter ( something we lack) and gives us a very potent lineup.

    1. Altuve 2b
    2. Springer RF
    3. Correa SS
    4. Davis 1b
    5. Gomez cf
    6. Tucker LF
    7. Gattis DH
    8. Valbuena 3b
    9. Castro C

Singleton, Carter, Marwin, Villar, Lowrie battling for 3 spots, as Conger would be the backup catcher.

Carter has to be traded. Lowrie will platoon with Valbuena, and Marwin is going to be the utility.

If we are able to trade Lowrie as a SS to another team, do it fast, i prefer Villar in our team (as utility) over Lowrie.

I don't think is going to happen as Lowrie's contract is not easy to move, always injured, and not a good bat for a 3b/1b.

Teams that could use a guy like Cater:

Mariners will always look for power, Colorado needs a 1b, maybe we could get Jairo Diaz (reliever htat hits 100 mph) and/or Sam Moll, lhp that touches 96 mph, also reliever.

The Mets are looking to improve at SS, maybe Lowrie could go there?

Nope. This is an Astros forum and this thread in particular is entitled Astros Offseason. A Mariners trade to the Rays has nothing to do with the Astros offseason moves.

This should be placed in the Other Sports forum. Perhaps cangrejero should make a thread called AL West offseason moves and place that sort of discussion there. Putting every Mariners, Angels and Rangers moves into an Astros offseason thread clutters it.

Start an AL West thread in the "Other Sports" forum and discuss the moves the Angels, Mariners and Rangers make there NOT in an Astros Offseason thread.

I don't mind discussing how trades/signings by other teams in the division impact the Astros off season strategy.

Guys.... I took a crap this morning and it sort of looked like the Astros colors, so I thought I'd put it in here...

(for the record, all "other teams" moves should be discussed elsewhere... and if you really think it applies or effects the Astros....i.e., its somebody the Astros were going after specifically, or its a blockbuster trade that makes our rivals significantly better... please word it as so).

Agree with you, Texas will have Darvish, if healthy, great combo with Hamels, Angels are always tough and Seattle will have 5 very good starters.

Only weak team is going to be the A's, so the Astros MUST improve on last year because right now 2 teams are ALREADY better with "offseason" moves, Seattle with Paxton pitching in AFL and coming back healthy, and Darvish and a full year of Hamilton.
Also, Profar is playing in AFL, another good middle infielder for the Rangers, and Gallo is almost ready.

Is going to be an interesting offseason, and we should NOT only look at our moves, we need to follow other teams within the division because Texas, Angels and M's are close on talent with the Astros.

Some guys will want to do whatever possible to stop me from writing, but this is IMPORTANT for the Astros, to follow what OTHER teams within our division are doing.

I suspect the vast majority of us here are just ignoring you at this point.

But by all means, carry on.

Astros shut down A.J. Reed for rest of Arizona fall season
By Evan Drellich on November 5, 2015 at 12:50 PM

The Astros have shut down A.J. Reed for the rest of the Arizona Fall Season.

The move is to make sure Reed is fresh for spring training.

He had played in 11 games in Arizona and was hitting .231 with a homer and six RBI in 39 at-bats.

Reed, a first baseman, played in 135 games between Lancaster and Corpus Christi last season and had 34 homers and 127 RBI.

Yep, he's probably gonna have a few weeks of "seasoning" at AAA, but he's gonna be our 1B/DH next year, and I think the Astros are approaching the year with that mindset.

They are gonna try to upgrade the offense with him already penciled in.

I think one question mark is Gattis.
Are we going after DAvis? If we do, are we counting on Gattis over Reed? Are

Rockets, Astros, and Texans game threads ALL receive info from games not involving said teams.

    It's not clutter, its butter.
