It's not discrimination if you have the same rules for everyone. All men are to use facilities labeled for use by that sex, all women are to use facilities labeled for use by that sex.

Again, there's a reason why that's not included in the federal civil rights laws.....and the fact that it's not included there is why they were pushing for it in this ordinance.

Jesus Christ with the bathroom nonsense. Lol. If someone is evicted because they're transgendered, then that's the same rules for everyone? If they're fired, denied service, etc? That's the same for everyone? Really now.

These usual suspect conservative dopes conjured up this bathroom nonsense because they're always against equality for anyone that's not their definition of normal. Despite the fact many cities have the same ordinance without issue you dopes persist with this bathroom rape red herring nonsense. The courts will ultimately bounce the hate right on its ass just like they always do. Same as it's ever been, conservatives always being dragged kicking and screaming into the future.

You don't even seem to understand what the hell being transgendered means. You think it's some kind of silly game.

Bobby, the first step is admitting you have a problem.

If we use DICK and p***y instead of MEN and WOMEN for bathroom labels that solves the problem right? If you have both you can use either.

Again, you fail to understand possible ramifications of this ordinance....which makes sense. The voters realized them, and that's why even a voter base who has elected Annise Parker election after election for about 20 years now, rejected her ordinance. The possible unintended consequences just weren't acceptable.

What you also fail to understand is that it wasn't a conservative voter base that voted this down....if it was then a conservative candidate for Mayor would have been elected handily. What you need to come to terms with is that your opinion on the HERO nonsense is a minority opinion within your own party.

I think trans people should just go into the bathroom of the sex that wants them in there and see how well that works out. I'm sure guys will love seeing trans girls in there hanging out. Guys are worried about guys dressing up like girls to check out girls?? Well how about those same guys being worried about the "men" dressing up like girls to check out guys? This is all so stupid. Just have unisex bathrooms and get over it.

I don't know. SSG used to seem like such a rational person. No idea what happened.

The ordinance had nothing to do with bathrooms. But bigots and homophobes used it to scare the rubes. Nothing new for Texas.

If vagueness in wording of an ordinance has consequences that the majority disagrees with or doesn't want. *Shrugs. That's on the writers of the legislation.

Gotta love fear mongering. Getting people riled up about the 0.000001% weirdo that wants to assault little girls in bathrooms.

They are going to continue to use the one THEY feel comfortable in like they always have. And when they close the stall door no one will know, like the rarely ever did. And no one will give a cap like they never did.
(big hands and Adams apples are noticeable )

denying this ordinance only allows discrimination against people in work and housing .....

Na, it's the 1% or lower part of the population that would actually have their life improved by changing the room they defecate in vs the 99% that would feel uncomfortable.

On the other hand if voting against this legislation saves .000000001% of girls from assault then good on the voters.

Sam instead of hurling insults, how about a better way?

How about a common sense re-write of this ordinance to remove the part that's offensive to so many people?

...and how about our mayor acting professionally and not doing intrusive things like subpoenaing churchs' sermons?

Think, Sam, instead of resorting to insults. It's my mission to make you a better poster.

Serious question - is it really illegal to go into the wrong restroom? I never knew the "Stand 2P" and "Sit 2P" signs at twin peaks were legally binding.

2 days later and we're still talking about bathrooms. Just goes to show you how brilliantly the opposition's smear campaign worked.

Don't blame the folks who voted against. Blame the folks who wrote the HERO ordinance in such a way 99% of the good was lost because the wacko politico opposition found 1% (or less) language that they came up with this bathroom thing. Stupid politicians outdone by other stupider politicians.

btw..., serious question. Why do we need a city law enforcing equal rights if the US constitution already does. Is it a technical/legal enforcement issue or something else? To me this is like US Civil Rights laws destroying Jim Crow laws. US law always wins. So again serious question what benefit of creating a local/city "ordinance" alongside existing federal law?
