Considering the west side of 45 is more densely populated and has significantly higher voter turnout, I'd say his statement is correct.

Have you ever driven east of I45 or 59. There is not much there. There are motels and factories. You don't see too many neighbor hoods.

As passionate as so many people were for or against this ordinance on social media, it's pretty pathetic that 90% didn't even bother to come out and vote on it.

    Really strange take there.

You think people just got tire of being called bigot and for that, gave up their position? Peer pressured to accept a view and actually go on to supporting that view? That's pretty weak minded don't you think?

I think people open their eye, see what gays people are and decided for themselves that discriminating against them is not what they support.

On the media point, you are convinced that media has a liberal basis. This is such a common thing from the right. It's almost at the point of blame the media for everything.

So, I do think there are bias in media, on both side. And I'm very doubtful that bias has really changed that much over the years. What has changed is the Right has shifted radically to the right. What used to be "centrist" position is now liberal position. For example, the idea of raising tax, any small amount, is strongly liberal today. That was not the case in 80's when both Reagan and Bush raises taxes. Or, the idea that passing a debt ceiling without hooks is a liberal position, when that was a common place for all congress and presidents until recently. So, you see, I think it's not that the media has moved much, but that because the right has moved so much over to the right, THEIR BIAS view is now seeing a liberal media. It's your own bias lens working overtime.

So 70% of the population lives in the west side of the inner loop.

The department of education office of civil rights believes that it's the right of transgenders to self-identify.

    http://www.pbs.org/newshour/rundown...iscriminated-transgender-student-report-says/

Bobby, HERO didn't create any new rights that aren't already implicit. Federal agencies are already recognizing and defending self-identification if gender. I don't think I'm going out on much of a limb to say its only a matter of time before the courts set a clear precedent.

No one is saying that transgender people can't think of themselves as whatever gender they want to think of themselves as......they are just saying that it doesn't change their sex. You can think that you are the president of the US if you like, but it won't get you aboard Air Force One.

No, it's like being told there's no such thing as left-handedness by right-handers...and being punished for having bad handwriting. It isn't the transgendered who are confused, it's the people who get their understanding of neuroscience and human sexuality from a former news anchor and a retired baseball player.

There seems to be a common thread here.....

Differentiating the currently oppressed group from the last recently emancipated/protected group.

Yes, yes blacks can vote but this is different, this is a different gender, besides they have their husband to vote for them!

We are talking about negroes here, seperate but equal. This isn't anything like the emancipation proclamation.

Blacks can marry, just to their own kind, not a civil rights issue.

Gays can marry? This isn't anything like the civil rights movement. Gays can marry... The opposite gender. What is the problem? What next? Marrying animals?

This is nothing like the homorable gay rights movement, these are transgender folks. A small percentage of the population.

The can just keeps being kicked down the street. Regardless of whether we like it or dislike it, change is coming and this just postponed the inevitable for a few years.

Acceptance is one hell of a drug.

    We have a winner! Exactly.

What's sad is that people think Lance Berkman is being persecuted and not transgender people who have to put up with being hated for who they are.

I thought a good Christian like Lance is supposed to love all, and not paint them as perverts without ANY evidence but their own fear and prejudice.

Im reading tweets that Superbowl 2017 is safe but I'm personally thinking beyond that it may not return because of this.

Here's the idiocy of it of the argument against the ordinance for letting a transgender woman use a woman's bathroom to prevent a man from dressing up as a woman and assaulting a woman.

The ordinance doesn't enable this to happen, because it can happen today anyway!

Any guys can dress up as a woman today and walk into a woman's bathroom and assault someone. This ordinance doesn't impact that. It's just let's transgender people use the bathroom they will be comfortable will. Imagine the issue you'd have with a transgender woman looking like a woman dressed like a woman walking into a men's bathroom. They are basically have to explain that they are "transgender" and not a woman. THAT IS NOT RIGHT.

The ordinance let's them use a woman's bathroom. Most women wouldn't even notice. If they are worried about some perv well guess what, nothing is stopping a "perv" from dressing up as a woman and using a woman's bathroom today. So it's just stupid to use that as a reason to be against this.

If the city of Houston loses any events because of this, which is absolutely ridiculous in its own right, the blame falls squarely at the feet of the mayor for forcing the unnecessary ordinance down the throat of a city who did not want it and trying every dirty trick in the book to keep the people from voting on it.

That, or all the other cities that actually have these ordinances but not experienced a spate of tranny bathroom child abduction rapes as a result.
