I guess it's a sign of how good things are that some people in here don't seem to know what actual discrimination looks like.

Why does everyone continue to ignore that there are "Women" that are wanting to go into the men's restroom as well?

Why has no one against this addressed this ONCE in this thread? Not a single time.

Strange that you conveniently didn't quote the part about modern day medicine being a strong agreement about transgendered people. But I suppose you have a PhD in biology yourself so you're well qualified to make that claim, right?

These people are not "choosing" their gender. They are medically confirmed to be of the opposite sex they were born into. To deny them that is cruel and ignorant.

You are making lots of assumptions without knowing the facts. It's a shame that you are not willing to look into this issue and learn something before you judge based on the hateful views you have been thought.

I think it's safe to say that the perverts of Houston that were planning to disguise themselves as transgender women in order to molest little girls in the bathrooms once Proposition 1 passed suffered a huge setback tonight.

I'm just wondering why none of them have addressed this once. Continue to ignore it even as it is brought up several times, sometimes multiple times each page.

I would like to see them acknowledge that they feel that their sons are safe too, and that they themselves will be completely comfortable sharing a men's restroom with a transgender, since biology and all.

I wanted the ordinance repealed, but it feels very hollow to win on the basis of the whole bathroom/sexual predator horses***.

Feels like this will empower the derp caucus that cooked up that smear campaign to write an even worse law in its place.

If you want to talk about validity, then use logically valid reasons. "Everyone else has done it" is not a valid reason to pass an ordinance in Houston. "What everyone else said in this thread" also isn't a valid reason. Businesses support ordinances like HERO because they are scared to death of the LGBT lobby coming after and ruining them. Maybe that's what you consider "good business," but I think it's disgraceful. Lots of people have been force-fed the positions of the LGBT lobby and accept them only because they don't want to be seen as a "bigot" or a "homophobe" or any other ostracizing word they can come up with. But who am I kidding? Intimidation is a valid form of discourse in our "progressive," "tolerant," "accepting" society.

And you're baffled by why it failed. Men dont care who comes into the restroom. Women do.

Men have been very vocal on the issue. Anyone who speaks out on it is labeled a bigot. Women voiced their opinions at the polls w/out being ridiculed.

Final count for Prop 1 (HERO) looks to be:

    Reject 61%
    Support 39%

An overwhelming victory for critics of a terrible ordinance

Too bad it's not a bathroom ordinance.

Any ways, how do you know how many men/women voted for/against it?

So this HERO ordinance has failed in Houston.

The mar1juana legalization vote in Ohio failed tonight as well.

In Kentucky tonight, a Tea Party Republican stomped the Democrat opponent 53 to 44% to become only the 2nd Republican Governor there in more than 40 years.

In San Fransisco, the incumbent Sheriff was defeated in the aftermath of the Kate Steinle murder and the sanctuary city controversy.

Looks like Progressives are taking another beating (just like last year) at the polls.

so you are a homophobe then... b/c the reason i brought up the "every other city" point was to demonstrate that the fears being perpetrated by those opposed are almost entirely unfounded. the threat of rape and molestation are practically non-existent anywhere in the country.

i guess a better question is why are you so threatened by the LGBT community? how does their non-discrimination and protection under the law effect you in any way whatsoever? believe it or not they're a fairly sizable part of the community.

and believe it or not, many business support LGBT causes bc they view them as normal, regular people just like you and me and deserve to be treated with the same respect. clearly something you don't believe bc... well... bc why exactly?

The first sentence in your response here proves exactly the point he was making.

Let me clue you in on something. The whole intimidation tactic you're using here in your response is AT LEAST as intolerant as any opinion he espouses.

    How ironic eh?

I laughed at this. Yes, them transgender people are so intimidating! They might slide up to you and put their hand on your leg and say, "hey baby, take a walk on the wild side"!!! That's like the KKK threatening to put a burning cross in your yard...yes sir ree bob - you know all about the intimidation going on.

Any business that didn't support HERO was going to be burned to the ground!

Or maybe...or maybe they just want ALL of their patrons to feel welcome in their establishment. Nah, it's go to be INTIMIDATION! ;)

Let me apologize firstly if you are calling the poster you quoted, a homophobe, based on prior comments and posts of his.
If you are calling him a homophobe based on his post that you quoted, how do you even get to that? He gave his thoughts on the fears certain business owners and people face if they oppose a certain view and/or group. That was all. Or maybe there was more previously that I missed. Would you please explain why you called him that word.

The ole intolerance of intolerance trope. The conservative playbook is so stale but damn you guys are consistent. Just jeep throwing the same stupid **** out no matter how often it's been discredited.

So group A is permitted to shove their beliefs down group B throat

Group B can't say anything and must accept it because group A will call you a bigot and homophobe for showing any hint of opposition.

    Whose really facing discrimination?

Poorly executed by the pro group. They decided to dance around the issues that resonated with voters and lost soundly. The anti group had a singular message and they marketed it like geniuses. You have to admire the effort.
