What is his range? I saw some of his pre season highlights, and he shot some outside shots, even made a turn around jumper. Just wondering because whenever he gets the ball outside, he never even considers taking the shot. Not saying he should, but if he's capable, why not at least attempt?
Unless his range INCLUDES the three point line, he'll never get a green pass to shoot a jumper. Plain and simple! ....... ....... .......
So he has decent range then. If he has a ton of space, then he should be allowed to shoot it. It's better than a contested step back from Harden.
He should be taking the 15 footer at the FT line when open. He gets the ball in that area and he can knock down that shot..especially if he gets a step right inside the FT line. If he took and nailed that shot a few times, it'd open up the paint for him to finish.
Again, the midrange shot is not a part of our philosophy. We shot the least amount of mid range shots in NBA history last year and the most there's in NBA history. I'm sure Montrezl will develop a corner three next off season. For now, he needs to become our enforcer/rebounder/defender/energy/glue guy and keep finishing strong at the rim. We need to trade for Ryan Anderson to space the floor.
He actually has a nice 15 foot jumper. I trust his jumper and stroke way more than Jones' flicker shot.
Players earn the right to shoot the 2 for this squad. A Montrez 2 point shot is effectively a wasted possession.
he had mid range jumpers in his highlight videos in college. his rookie year he should just focus around the rim. we dont need him to be a stretch 4
would be typical if McHale tried to turn him into a 3-4 trying to shoot 3's. This kid can rebound and take it to the tack so there is no need for that. And yes, his post moves are much better than Dwight's. I just think we need his energy more than anything else.
he has range. he made a lot of 3's during pregame and at halftime from the 3's from the games I attended this season so far. he doesn't jump on his 3's and he shoots it fading away so it's not great form at all.
I didn't say we NEVER ever take a mid range shot. It's a fact we shoot the least amount in the NBA by design. Our anylytical front office subscribes philosophically to threes, free throws and shots at the rim, also a fact.
Watching him shoot free throws, he has nice, fluid form and touch on the shot. He seems like he has the natural ability to become a decent shooter with enough practice. If he works hard at it, I have no doubt he could hit the corner 3 at a decent percentage.
