Yeah , so much for your "non-linear" solutions. You just threw a bucket of paint at the wall and called it art ... How's that for creativity internet tough guy.
Does anyone know what salary pieces would have to go out to trade for Melo? I'm trying to get an idea of what a Melo trade would look like.
Ariza, Brewer, KJ, Bev is nearly exact salary. But I think we only would have to trade away a fraction of his salary so Bev may not have to be included. Could be wrong though.
Melo makes $22.875m. You'd have to come up with pretty much all of it since they have very little space under the hard cap and then factor in roster holds of $525k for each player over 1 sent out in that deal. Probably couldn't make a deal for Melo work until January 14th when Brewer / PatBev and others are eligible to be traded.
What part of probably cant make this deal work until after Jan14th did you not comprehend ?! Unless of course you want to give up Ariza ++ ..... Neither deal is very palatable in my opinion ....
Nobody here likes Patrick Patterson @ 6.2 million? I always thought he was a smart player, who can shoot the three at a decent percentage. Plus his contract is way easier to trade for.
Harden, Howard, Ariza, Lawson, Jones, DMo for Curry, Green, Klay, AI2, Barnes. Also, McHale for Kerr. That'll easily fix the season...
Neither of them can be traded before Jan.15th. Don't really see the need for another guard when you have Harden and Lawson. Bigger issue is in the paint .... and the impending free agency of both DMo & Jones. If DMo comes back healthy I think you have enough at the position to win with .... but that still leaves the contract situation in the coming offseason. The Rockets have quite a few players they can't trade right now - KJ , Thornton & Terry Dec 15th Brewer & PatBev Jan 15th Players eligible to be traded now: Harrell (1m) Capela (1.2m) Dekker (1.6m) DMo (2.2m) Jones (2.4m) Ariza (8.1m) Lawson (12.4m) Harden (15.7m) Howard (22.3m) Of those players , who are you willing to part with?? For me that list is short - Jones & Dekker and they aren't going to bring you much of a return. Maybe something shakes out in December when KJ (3.1m) is trade eligible .... but I have no idea what his value is around the league considering he can't get on the court and who would you target with the still relatively small amount of salary you could bring back with he and Jones 5.5m total - add Dekker and that number creeps up to 7.1m.
Thanx Corrosion for the breakdown. Yeah it's very hard to judge Kj's trade value. On one hand he has a good contract and he's young and has upside defensively and wings are too hard to find on the other hand he can't shoot and who knows when/if he will be able to contribute well offensively with consistency? If he can become 3+D wing then he will be much more valuable. My guess right now is a very late first at best. (because of positional depth, and because of contract value). I'm paying attention to Boston and it's definitely a situation that is worth monitoring. Last game Lee, Sully Zeller Olynyk and Amir all got about 15-16 mins each. That can't keep going it will lead to lockeroom problems. Three of those guys (in essence 4 since Amir will be most probably waived next year ) are in contract years. Another situation worth monitoring is Sacramento since Karl seems to rely more and more on Bellineli and push Mclemore aside. And Mclemore will need an extension next year.
McLemore is going to be a good player. Definitely one to keep an eye on. I'd love to have Avery Bradley too.
