This wasn't a bad pass really, just an epic fail by Brewer. He has a wide open layup at the rim and.....I don't even know what he was doing here. This is 100% on Brewer, put KJ in this spot instead of Brewer and it's a dunk every time.
Watching it in real time, I actually thought someone tipped the ball, but when you watch closely, he just loses it on his own...
Either way, the situation isn't as bad as it seems. Yeah we lost by 20 and their starters played like 25-30 minutes, but just from the plays here going our way, you cut that 20 point deficit in half. But these types of mistakes are what separates championship teams from playoff teams, we simply make too many of them now. I don't know if thats focus, coaching, injuries, or what, probably a little bit of it all. We shot really poorly because the warriors have a great defense and our offense doesn't produce enough easy shots, that is another concern for another thread. Something needs to change if we want to be in the top tier of teams though.
Missing the wide open shots is something that simply has to stop, especially when it's Harden missing wide open 3's. This team has no future if they can't hit a high percentage of uncontested 3's.
These breakdowns on twitter are prime examples of the horrendous Rockets defense and the incredible offense of the warriors to take advantage of mistakes in a split second and kill us. Harden needs to stop focusing on the ball and stay on his man. He's getting killed way to many times ball watching.
Pretty sad really. These guys just don't prepare and take the game seriously enough. Seems like they just think that its all gonna be just given to them. Harden is not a true leader in the sense of a guy you wanna go to battle with. He is clueless defensively.
I'm not worried about the offense, we'll get through it. It's the defense that I'm worried about. It's literally Dwight or bust.
I downloaded the game to rewatch it and in the first 5 minutes alone Lawson Harden and Jones have lost their man by ball watching or missed rotations more than 10 times. Left Curry to shoot 2 3s completely unguarded. Even if the shots start falling with such a bad defence we are going nowhere.
Yeah I don't remember how many open 3s curry got in the first quarter but if the finals last year taught us anything it's stop curry at all costs and you have a chance (aside from having Lebron go berserk.)
Rockets are amateurish on defense. Communication is apparently hard. They lose their guy(s) easily. They leave guys wide open. Focus? Attention? I don't know.
Our defense is what made us so successful last season. If we are really serious about winning it all, we need to improve it to the level it was at last year.
