I know it's 1.5 games, but he doesn't look like a rookie at all. He knows what to do on the offensive end, and you can see the talent on defense. It's getting harder and harder to see minutes for TJones when DMo gets back.
He needs to start over Jones. The starting lineup just doesn't come out with any fire, and the kid is all effort and will spark the starters. How embarrassing will it be when you have rookie making less than 1 million this season is out hustling your starting lineup that all makes 8-23 million this season? Jones is much better suited for the bench were we don't need to count on him for consistent play. It will also make the transition from when DMo comes back easier for the team since the bench will be set already.
Hell I'm ready to give him the starting job over Jones and give him a Cato extension now after just 2 games. Kid brings fire and hustle.
He will if he can rebound and play defense. I'm not saying Montrezl is that player, but honestly that's what we need. Harrell's hustle and efficiency are really to be applauded from what I have seen so far. He is arguably our team MVP after 2 games.
Rockets played their best with Harrell on the court. Now if Howard can stop acting like a kid and get serious for once during the regular season
I don't think you can start him right now because I think he crowds Dwight a bit. Problem is, when you have Jones in there, if he tries to range out, he crowds Harden, who is now playing off the ball. The end result has been Jones staying mid range and jacking up random mid range jumpers and subsequently missing them. The solution to all of this? Bring Ty Lawson off the bench. It answers a lot of the questions for now. Let Harden handle more on ball duties. Mix the two together for about ten minutes a game until they're more comfortable. Of course, Harden hasn't been active off the ball, and our coach is a dunce who would never think creatively...
Ya, I think hiding Lawson and Harden on defense is pretty much impossible. One/both of them have to either become a more engaged defender or else McHale will have to split them up.
Harrell is looking like the steal of the draft so far. Love this kid. Thought for sure he'd be down in the D-League but no way now. He finishes with authority and has freakish length on him. You can bet a lot of GMs are going to be kicking themselves for passing on him. Morey nailed it again.
Impressive stuff from him. I hope McHale pulls his head out of his ass and gives the kid more minutes over the obviously ineffective Jones.
Yep, I agree with this. If DMo is able to make a full recovery we could very well be watching the last months of Terrence Jones as a Rocket. That's not a knock on TJ so much as it's in indicator of just how good Montrezl has been playing. I could certainly see the Rockets re-signing one of either Jones or DMo but if Montrezl keeps playing at this level then I see no way the team keeps both. DMo's ability to stretch the floor makes him uniquely suited to play along side of either Dwight, Capela or Harrell. I really love watching both Harrell and Capela on the floor at the same time since both of those guys play as if their legs are pogo sticks. They go after every ball coming off of the rim and both play way above the rim.
IMO, once Donatas is ready, Jones should be moved. I like the idea of D-Mo starting to give the offense a more balanced look since he can play inside and out...and then bringing in Harrell as a defensive anchor. Him and Capela in the middle is a strong defensive 2nd unit.
I think Montrezl can develop an outside shot to stretch the floor a bit. He has very good form on his free throws. He looks natural and fluid. I bet he could hit the corner 3 if he really worked on it.
