I don't think his stats are a representation of the way he plays watching him without the ball and in help situations, his awareness is just god awful.
Dwight does not clog the paint as much as you think his guys are hesitant to leave him because of his rebounding and ally oop abilities. Same thing with Harrell a high motor cutting in and out and being a pest on the boards requires constant attention from the defense otherwise its going to be easy dunks all day for Howard and Harrell. The Spacing problem with tjones is he thinks hes spreading the floor standing on the three point line, and not moving when in reality he nevers shoots the three and when he does his shot takes so long to get off his defender just sags off and clogs the paint. To effectively spread the floor as a shooting 4 he has to knock down the three and shoot alot! Smith didnt knock it down at a high rate, but he was NEVER afraid to shoot it which is why they couldn't leave him alone. IMO I think tjones offensive and defensive awareness on the floor just isn't good and compiles with not being a good rebounder.

Harden shot 29% Ariza shot 20% Brewer shot 14% Lawson shot 30% Beverley shot 33% But hey let's only thrash Jones because we hate him so much. Curry scores 40 points with excellent shooting while Harden chunks up bricks trying to prove he was the undisputed MVP last season.
Rookie showed more promise and outplayed Jones last night. I was cringing each time Jones went up for a shot in the restricted area. It was flat out awful. He missed almost all of those shots within two feet of the basket. I'm not saying anyone else played that well either. Seriously, we lost to the Nuggets who by all estimation is a lottery team this year. Just utterly humiliating after getting to the WCF.
As most have said the problem has been mental , so when I see signs that he is not as explosive then I really start to get worried . Jones is perhaps the worst black hole in the nba when he gets the ball in the paint . How many times last night did he get his shot blocked from behind ? He was oblivious down there . I know he got doubled in the post , he needs to pass out of that quicker . Maybe some of that is on the rest of the team , but at least some of the blame falls on TJ . The dude looks lost right now and aside from maybe a 3-4 minute period he was a huge negative on the floor last night . And on a night when we shoot poorly we needed him to pick up some slack . His motor is still inconsistent and off more often than on which is unacceptable for a 3 year veteran who lacks mental awareness. Hopefully Dwight coming back will mitigate some of these issues and we can tread water with him montrezl and Capela holding down the big spots and us playing small ... Until hopefully Dmo comes back 100% ... Even 80% Dmo can space the floor and shoot and know his rotations .
His development has gone haywire. He shoulda been working in the right way on his shot more than anything else. Instead, the organization didn't get him to commit to getting his shot fixed right.....and they got him to pumping iron and adding girth. Now he's lost explosiveness. Not good. He really needs to get the weight back off, regain his explosion, then commit to a long-term rebuilding of his jump shot. And that's a multi-year project.
How do we know you, as the president of the Hate Terrence Jones Club, aren't proposing this just to wreck his career? :grin:

I can't believe some ppl here support Jones. I'm not a kneejerk kind of guy, but with any player there needs to be some degree or at the very least some semblance of progression,and definitely not regression. If y'all don't mind three black holes on D and think we can win a championship, you're all dreaming. Wait, I take that back 2.5 black holes on D....Harden is at least progressing in that area.
I really don't understand why fans can't support the entire team. Or why fans always have to dump on one player when it looked like everyone but Harrell regressed. Everybody was a black hole on defense against the Nuggets. Did you not see the game.
The way it's always been. I probably look like a Jones super fan, always defending him, but I'm really just a Rockets super fan who supports every player no matter what. To see the whole fan base dump on Jones is beyond uncalled for. What I've noticed, is that 90% of the post that trash Jones are from Holic/Bobby along with a hoard of 1 rep bar posters who seem to have the IQ of potatoes, who are just following the crowd with trashing Jones.
