Milk Hair= Mark jackson. Meaning they have some success but not enough to be considered elite in their field. Theyre like the Jeff Fishers or Norv Turners of the NBA except they dont excel in defensive schemes or offensive schemes. They just cant seem to get it all together. I dont take anything away from this coaching staff but they dont add anything to this team that hasnt already been done the past few years. There really is strong correlation as to why we dont get respect nationally.

Morey might be a victim of his own genius as well. Him thinking that a championship team doesnt hinder on an elite coach is pretty absurd, if you ask me. This might be one of times where Morey doesnt outsmart the next man but only himself.

Maybe Brewer needs to be traded and Mchale needs to be fired?

Right, that's what conjecture is; an opinion based on incomplete information. The Rockets looked like it was Lawson's and Harden's first real NBA together and there was a lot of tentativeness team-wide (except Harrell) to go along poor shooting. We added a major in piece in Lawson, a player which greatly changes our Harden-centric offense. It sucks we sucked on our home opener, but one game is nothing.

Hungriness is just some subjective, catch all, sports, feel good term. You haven't been traveling with the Rocket's team to truly understand their state of mind. So yea... conjecture.

Look, maybe I'm lumping you in with folks like the OP. I apologize, but I just can't see how you can not see the McHale hate (not to be confused with criticism in this thread).

I never claimed Morey couldn't find another coach, where did I say that? Again, pot calling the kettle black.

You don't find it curious that Morey hasn't replaced McHale?

To the bolded, I just think our FO is in a much better position to make those decisions than the CFers.

Just one page back.... Seriously... do you read "your side's" comments?

Which was quickly agreed upon at least twice. I just can't believe you don't see the trolling and ignorance (especially by the OP).

Schemes are based on personnel and our personnel in the James Harden era have been long, athletic, and average shooters. How our team is constructed is out of the coaching staff's hands. I'm concerned most about turnovers, as our defense and offense adjusted for pace been strong (not top 5 strong for both). I'm confident Lawson and Harden will figure it out to cut down on the turnovers.

Is that the Grizzles's excuse too?

Well getting an "elite" coach is very hard, like getting an "elite" player. Again, you'll need to ask Morey what elite coaches he passed up.

No you didn't just say conjecture, you said slope fallacy. I beg you to re-watch both games if you think it can't be proven that the other teams "SEEMED" hungrier than the Rockets. Secondly it was the Nuggets first game as well, with a new ROOKIE point guard and a new head coach no less. How many more excuses to you have for Mchale that I can debunk, lets hear them.

Finally for those who believe that hungriness is just a term I can point to that person and say that, that is a person who is not very competitive or just a person who does not have a grasp of what terms "mean". Some people care more than others at certain things at certain times in their lives. Some people practice constantly because they don't want to be embarrassed, others go out drinking the night before. If yesterday was a debate the Rockets were not prepared. In other words they were not hungry. It's not Rocket science (Pun intended) it's a word that is used to shorten a description by using less words but that doesn't mean that it means nothing. It's just a way for me to say that the Rocket were not prepared when they should have been. The preseason is over but we were still playing preseason ball.

My mistake, conjecture and slippery slope fallacy are two different things.

I saw a tentative Rocket's team who didn't play much together. But again... it was just one game.

How are those McHale excuses? Those are explanations. The Nuggets simply came out and played better. Care to tell me how many Nugget players sat out for their training camp and pre-season games?

    This is one game.

The bolded, those statements don't logically follow each other.

You really are stretching here.... You realize the Rockets came out of the gate firing on all cylinders last season and won 6 straight? Let me see your "hungry" trend for the Rockets over McHale's tenure because there's some inconsistencies I'm seeing.

You are arguing for arguments sake. This happens when a person hits a wall and either has to admit they are wrong or just start a new argument. So now we are not talking about the present we want to argue about the past? OK, the playoff record under Mchale for the talent we have is atrocious or did you just want to talk about the regular season and the ridiculous notion that Mchale is the reason for Harden's success. We play iso ball, it's pretty much on Harden, that's the problem. So when you say people always blame Mchale and not the players it's because we all recognize that we put way too much pressure on one player because we have an inept coach. So when that player falters we go for coach because maybe just maybe if we had a system other than give the ball to Harden it won't always just be on Harden to Jordan this whole thing out. At this point in the argument the response is usually for someone on your side to blame Morey afterall it's Morey's vision right. What the hell is Mchale here for then and why can he not then be replaced?

SO the Rockets came out all cylinders firing and when it was time to adjust what did we do? The Rockets came out with all cylinders firing? They lost the first quarter.

It's a debate and I'm debating all your points and you're picking and choosing which one of mine to respond to....

I brought up the beginning of last season because it is the beginning of this season....

    You see the context here?

So what's different 2015's game 1 vs 2014's game 1 (vs the crappy Lakers)? Still feel it's a hunger issue or perhaps you are seeing the forest through the trees?

So how do you quantify the talent we have and how many wins we should win in a particular playoff series?

Iso ball is due to the lack of strong secondary playmaker. I'm pretty sure we all noticed we didn't have a person like Parsons to create off the wing this season. Do you not understand the personnel we have?

We are long, fast, and/or athletic at pretty much every spot without much shooting. We are built to play fast and stretch the floor, except this season we have a new elite playmaker. Do you want to give McHale more than one game to complain about Iso ball? Can you at least acknowledge that our offense does in fact, go up and down, based on personnel?

I didn't realize we had a strong secondary playmaker, who am I forgetting about?

Who is the person that acquires such players? McHale?

That's right, it is Morey's vision and it's been going pretty good.

But you'll have to ask Morey why he hasn't been replaced... otherwise it's just a bunch on conjecture on you're part about how inept Mchale is. You have no idea what goes on behind the scenes.

Context is very important in life, in allows one to see an issue from many sides. To clarify, it's not that I think McHale is a great NBA, I just think your assessment is wrong.

    It's one game.....

We had a better pre-season last year and we didn't have to add an elite playmaking guard to our offense on top of a crappy pre season this year. Yes, the addition of Lawson creates those good problems, like figuring out how to play with 48 minutes of elite playmaking.

So pretty much your whole point of us losing the game is the addition of Lawson? Thats laughable

The unfortunate thing is there wasnt even 5 minutes of elite playmaking against Denver.

I am confident we will turn it around.

Ariza was 1-7 from downtown. Coach should have told him attack the basket, your shoot is off.

Get him out of here Morey!

Good point...but it goes way beyond conjecture. Its hate, pure and simple. Irrational hate.

Over and over and over and for what? I don't get it. How many times do the same individuals need to post their hatred for McHale?

We get it. You hate him.

Move on and let the rest of us enjoy discussing Rockets basketball.

McHals offensive schemes are crap! With two playmakers like Harden and Ty there should be so much movement off the ball where those two guys can get creative and find open guys. But instead of it being everyone standing around and watching Harden now they're standing around and watching both Harden and Ty. This is never going to get better. All it took the Warriors was a new coach and look at them. McHale isn't the answer but it will take Morey a season or two to figure that out and those will just be wasted years.

sure did get us far last year  but with a center or PF that has a face of game or pick pop threat it will be more movement

Mchale didn't get us far... talent on the roster got us far. There's is absolutely nothing x's anx o's wise Mchale does as a coach that you can up with. Guys are playing free out there with no discipline but we want the turnovers to go down. All Mchale can do is what us fans do talk about what's wrong and complain. As coach he just attempts to motivate the guys to bring more energy the guy is not innovative or creative at all.

Last years offensive scheme was give the ball to Harden and get out of the way. Harden had an amazing year. I wouldn't count on him doing that again this season. He doesn't have to either but with so little movement I mean what else is there to do? Drive to the basket and kick to the corner. It's so damn predictable now. There needs to be more to the offense than just that.
