Right? What other "structure" could help Ryan not keep missing his appointments? Sleeping in the same bed as BOB?

TEXANS WON’T MISS QB RYAN MALLETT
The Texans parted ways with Ryan Mallett on Tuesday; he was 1-3 in his four starts this season.

On Tuesday, the Texans parted ways with quarterback Ryan Mallett.

It’s been a rough season for the Houston franchise, with Mallett’s issues documented on “Hard Knocks” for the world to see. This is simply a transaction cutting dead weight, and is not necessarily a reason for Texans’ fans to be overly optimistic.

Ryan Mallett has a disappointing 51.2 overall grade this season, with a 50.9 passing grade, both 42nd among 50 qualifying quarterbacks. Among QBs who have taken at least 25 percent of their team’s offensive snaps, he was dead last in completion rate (52.7 percent) and yards per attempt (5.3).

Brian Hoyer isn’t lighting the world on fire, either—his 68.3 overall rating is barely above league average, and his 69.8 QB accuracy percentage is near the bottom (Mallett had a 65.7 accuracy percentage, above only Andrew Luck).

Hoyer can be decent at times, currently ranked 22nd among quarterbacks, but it’s unlikely he’ll salvage the season for the Texans. Early indications have T.J. Yates signing as the new backup, but at this point, it really doesn’t matter. The franchise put itself in a rough situation by signing an unreliable QB with off-field issues to back up an at-best average NFL starter, something that will have ramifications far beyond 2016.

Should have drafted Carr when we signed Fitz....then let Fitz do his thing until Carr was ready.

Also, should not have drafted 17 busts over the last 2 seasons.

    FML.

That is one pick I would never, ever blame them for not making.

Why is that? Because of his brother? That's the one thing that I would absolutely hammer a team over, if they actually avoided him because of David. That pretty much would sum up why this franchise is absolute crap.

What if it was his half brother with a different last name? Cousin?

Nobody can look me in the eye and say, if they ran the Texans, they would have had the balls to pick David Carr's little brother with (at least) the 33rd pick in the NFL draft coming off a 2-14 campaign.

People act like David Carr was an epic bust when the truth is he was extremely mediocre.

If we had Derek Carr people would not care about David after the way he's played

Plus we don't know how Carr would have handled that pressure. No one really said much when Derek has bad games with Oakland. In Houston, totally different. Maybe he deals with it okay. Maybe he falls apart.

I honestly dont understand why...he was arguably one of the top 3 QBs in the draft and many said that he may have the most potential out of all the QBs. He wasnt some random guy...he had the strongest arm in the class to go with very good athleticism. And by all accounts, he was much more dedicated to the game than David.

Spending a 2nd round pick on a QB doesnt set you back for years if you miss. The Texans needed a QB and they chose not to take that route. They had a chance for Jimmy G as well.

Most definitely, I would have taken a QB in that spot. I understand why you could go with LG...but if Carr isnt a consideration there, then the franchise has major issues.

You, as a GM/coach, probably wouldn't have survived the trip home from the draft after some fans got together and sent a surface-to-air missile at your plane.

I would have. Then again, I'm not known for caring what the average knuckle dragging Texans fan thinks about things.

You can say this about any QB...they either handle the pressure or they fall apart.

At the end of the day, you need to take a shot to see what you have.

Yeah and the truth is BOB would have surrounded Derek Carr with so much garbage and fail anyway. Carr would have taken the blame for this mess.

This team drafted Mario over VY/Bush...they have kept Smith as GM about 6 years too long, despite all the public hate...

If they are too scared to take Derek (when fans with actual football knowledge know that the younger bro has some talent), then shame on the front office.

Morey and Lunhow wouldnt be afraid of making unpopular picks.

Heck, Lunhow didn't even bother to sign one of his first round picks.

It's amazing to say he was lucky to go to the Raiders instead of the Texans
