I'm a notorious T. Jones defender and I know its just one game but he looked completely out of it. He could barely hold onto the ball. Is Dream no longer working with him on his footwork because he looked pigeon toed and knocked kneed in the pain. Poor rebounding, I don't know if he doesn't know how to box out or what but he looks to be regressing. Besides the two blocks, horrendous defense. Jones in case you're wondering, you are supposed to switch on the pick and roll and not leave Galonari wide ass open. I know it was only the first game and everyone looked bad but his poor play really stood out to be because he has given the Nuggets work in the past so I don't know if its the injuries that are still bothering him or if Dream and McHale aren't working with him on post moves and boxing out but he just looked bad. Harrell impressed me, he plays with tenacity. Let's hope when Dwight returns tomorrow everyone syncs up and the offense and defense picks up. Just to surmise, everyone looked bad last night Jones, Harden, Ariza and Lawson were the worst

seems like jones may have bulked up too much and is not moving or getting off the floor as well now carrying all that extra weight

I gave you 2 reasons Nick:

    1. Jones at the rim should be at around 70%. He wasn't. He was weak. And he got stuffed just like he got stuffed during the playoffs.

    And.......................

    2. Terrence's lack of ability to space the floor gives the defense more opportunity to cover Ariza and Harden/Ty/Bev(the other floor spreader) tight while collapsing on the pick-and-roll! It's very simple, Nick. Very simple. If Terrence isn't cleaning up the garbage in an ultra-efficient fashion, he is useless out there. His lack of shooting ability weighs on the whole unit!

As long as we run this unit out there, Terrence with a young Capela, we are going to see many subpar shooting games from James/Ariza/Lawson/Bev. Because those guys have to hurry their shots and they don't get the necessary space and time to shoot efficiently!

Why in tarnation can't you understand this!?!?!?!?

Picking on Terrence????!!!!!?!?!?!?!?!??? The role of our 4-man is CRITICAL TO OUR SUCCESS!!!!!!!! I'll be picking on every 4-man we run out there if they do not give us at least 2 of the 3 necessary components we need to win!!

That may be the case because he was a finesse player when he first got to the league and now he's got this big body and you expect him to physically dominate but he can barely run in a straight line

Id rather the Rockets forfeit the season than have him on the team.

I'm sure Jones will bounce back and have better games but it's time to face facts, he is what he is. The reason Faried and Denver did such a great job defensively is because they didn't even pretend to guard Jones out on the perimeter which screwed up the spacing.....it also didn't help that Harden couldn't buy a foul call for most of the game, but there's nothing that can be done about that. The NBA is gonna NBA sometimes.

For once I agree with Bobby. There's really no reason to continue this thread.

Jones is the best finisher in the NBA, that's why he was blocked 4 times yesterday.

So explain to us why we didn't see these issues last year with Jones paired with Dwert ?! Shooting / spacing wise its much the same .... Neither of them is much of a threat outside of the paint.

Can't even say how many time Lawson set up Jones with good passes in the low post, only to have Jones put the ball on the floor, hesitate long enough for a second defender to come over, and throw up a contested shot that either missed or was blocked.

Its sad when a second round rookie (granted he should have gone in the first) can come in and show a 4th year player how to simply catch and finish. Montrezl got the ball in position, and went up strong without hesitation. It's not a very complicated concept.

People who dont understand basketball will never know why tjones is the biggest deterrent to this team its that simple... Teams were watching the playoffs last year folks, those pump fakes wont get you anywhere because you cant shoot outside 12 feet, that in turn lets the d sag off and makes the rest of the team have to try to beat double teams....4 on 5 basketball is never succesful. And its not like hes making up for it with rebounding or defense......

Speaking of players who i want to ship off, welcome to the freakin list COREY BREWER!! you wont escape that dismal performance , he really offers nothing other than an elite transition game. Brew+Jones+Dekker +1st , iam sure that can get u a good haul. KJ+Harrell > Jones+brewer , and no i dont give a **** what they did game 6 vs LAC its a new season and we wont win with those 2 in the main rotation
And this isnt an over reaction to one game, its a fact and it shows that tjones without dwight next to him is NOTHING!! Dmo on the other hand , well he showed last year what he could do without dwight in the lineup...

We did see these issues....IN THE PLAYOFFS!!!!

But during the regular season, when Terrence was/is healthy and we go up against subpar teams, they have to double down on the pick-and-roll with Dwight. And Jones can clean up a lot better with Dwight attracting more attention than Capela does.

Same thing will happen this year that has happened the last 2 years if both Dwight gets healthy and Terrence stays healthy. Terrence will have several staggering box scores where he puts up a 20/10. But you'll notice most of those games will be games where he has a favorable matchup and/or the defense tilts towards Howard leaving Terrence wide open weak side to grab the ball and stuff it back. You do that 4 times a game and that's 4 boards and 8 points.

Look. 12/6, 13/6, 13/5....those are pedestrian meaningless averages. 90% of the league's power forwards will average those numbers if they are playing 30 minutes a game alongside Dwight. It's meaningless.

    1. Players didnt know how bad Jones shot was , now they just leave him open and dont go for any of his pump fakes.

    2. Dwight garners two ppl attention in the paint mostly at all times which is how jones gets his lunch money, picking up scraps cuz we have a beast in the middle, without that beast hes merely a soft little man in the land of giants where he will never hold up......and he cant do anything about it because he cant shoot outside the paint.

you dont need ppl explaining this to you buddy its simple basketball....its y jones' utter incompetency can be seen miles away which is what me and holic and bobby and others have been trying to tell u , but instead get shot down like we r trying to hate on our rockets when its the exact opposite...so sad when someone with his physical abilities can be that bad, ****in pathetic

All I know is Josh Smith's absence was prevalent last night. Because of his ability to space the floor by hitting 3's, play def staunch defense in the paint and rebound efficiently when Jones has a game like last night it just shows how good Josh Smith is and how good a fit he was for this team. If Jones continues to regress, I'm thinking Morey rectifies letting Smith go by either trading Jones (for Keef probably) or giving Smith a long term deal next summer. Josh Smith punked Kenneth Faried every time we played the Nuggets last season, Jones needs to play better because coming off back surgery its not certain what we can count on from D Mo

He was that way at Kentucky. Some things don't change.
