If you are the least bit surprised then you haven't been watching Lawson play the past two years. He's been (2013 Harden level) bad for some time. What bothered me even more was how passive he was on open shots, and opted for uncontrolled wild passes. Guy just looks out of sorts with a new team. Its gonna take time to get him comfortable in the offense, and finding a groove. Now the rest of the Rockets tonight........ ugh. (everyone except for Harrell, and at times Bev sucked.... majorly)
He actually gives a okay effort on defense most of the time, but his size really hurts him especially since teams are now loving the ideas of big point guards.
Pretty much. Lawson's on-ball D wasn't good, but a 6'5" dynamic player like Mudiay is going to get his more often than not in today's NBA, and especially against the 5'11" Lawson. Brewer's and Jones' off-ball D were so, so bad.
Rubio has 10 pts in the first qtr and Lawson had 12 all night but he is the missing piece everybody said man it's going to be fun to talk mess about Lawson all year. Oh and Rubio can also defend. Curry going to have fun with Lawson Friday and Westbrook and Lillard and Irving and every other top PG.
I have been calling for Bev to start for a month now alr. Nothing against Lawson he is who he is, but for the best of the team he fits better off the bench and Bev's skills are better utilised as a starter. If Harden wasn't on the team it would be different.
Honestly didn't think he played that bad defensively. Maybe my expectations were just low. The loss is nobody's fault. The entire team played terrible.
My opinion has always been that defense is tremendously overrated. The best defense Lawson can do is go ham on offense and wear out the other team that has to chase him all over the place.
To be fair, it is his first real game with a new team. I say this as someone who is highly skeptical that the harden Lawson pairing can work
Defence is overrated? :grin: lol Ok..... Explain how bad defensive teams have never won anything ever? And all championship teams were in top 10 in defence? Because defence is overrated?
I wanted Rubio badly on this team. But mostly everybody wanted Lawson so I'm going to be extra hard with my criticism of him. And people are going to be begging for Beverly to start real soon.
Still doesn't explain why you think that defence is overrated. Since it's a neccessary ingredient of winning.
Rubio is one of the worst pgs in the league in finishing and at shooting and is always injured. Why you wanted him exactly? Some people live in the 80s and 90s still.
Better fit than Lawson in my opinion I'm not trying to get into a debate about it either. I went through that already. Lawson is here Rubio isn't.
