The funny thing is that there are 5 pages of people rejecting a hypothetical trade that can't even happen. Now allowable under the CBA. The Rockets can't trade for Melo after the LAwson trade. Technically it would be possible but in practice it's impossible. Melo makes too much money. Earliest we can even think of trading for Melo is next offseason.
Wow I was surprised so many voted no! Glad to see people realize we don't need a chucker. The Swiss Chocolate is going to be key to keeping the Harden years rolling. I was hoping Melo would stay in NY when he was a free agent and I still want him as a Knick, they deserve each other. Current roster is very diverse and balanced when healthy. Melo would wreck the balance needing the ball too much.
So trade a bunch of mostly scrubs for melo? Sign me up. If Morey pulled this off this poll would be like 90% WHAT A GREAT TRADE.
KJ - Maybe Brewer - No Beverley - Hell No Capela - Hell Hell Hell No Jones - Probably and some picks? -- and picks uhhh no thanks
Maybe if we were an Eastern conference team then I would more than likely do this trade. We're essentially going to rely heavily on just 5 players + super scrubs the whole season/playoffs in the West. No thank you.
False. obviously DM is smarter (thank god) than the 10% of people that actually think this is even a remotely good sacrifice. Anyone who thinks depth is unimportant in the NBA today hasn't seen enough of the way the game is played the last few years and what it has become.
I can see Melo playing with Lawson, or Melo playing with Harden, but I can't see all three playing togethor. All three of theirs strengths are undeniably offense, specifically having the ball in theur hands. There's only 1 ball to go around, our defense and depth is not something to give up for a player who's skill set is similar to our 2 best offensive players.
he's not a good fit and my god pple have some faith in dmo. dmo and ty can be two 3rd scoring options. that makes up for the lack of a "big 3". ask the warriors you dont need a big 3. maybe a sht load of luck those guys had
Melo is a great fit as a stretch four and a great player. The contract, age, what it would take to just match salary is what makes this a probably not.
Agreed. Given his age and miles and health, I think that contract will be bad even in the new salary cap environment.
Trade-off Honestly, at this point, I don't know how much value Melo has to New York. He doesn't fit with the system they are trying to install in the team. I think that offering a package of DMO, TJ, and a mix of vets and picks. Melo has also lost a lot of traction in NY and is running out of time to win a title if he ever wants one.
And I'd rather have Anthony Davis, but the fact of the matter is that NONE of these things are going to happen.
