I said its super unlikely, but as a pie in the sky scenario ON PAPER I would love the move if the stars aligned and unicorns starting flying through the sky.

    Per my car-lot analogy-

I used the Chandler Parsons 2nd rounder example. Portis wasn't a 2nd rounder, but similar situation. Even Giannis was a situation where his value increased when he was "driven off the lot" so yeah most of the time rookies like Dekker are "driven off the lot" and as soon as they look like rookies everyone (and probably GM's) get snap judgments based off of normal rookie adjustment issues that overall probably lower the price.

I get it. It was an analogy that isn't 100% applicable to the NBA under every single scenario but I would hope folks are smart enough to get my point that Dekker is one of those rookies that is going to look like a rookie with normal warts for first year players, and his value surely dropped with the fans on a over reaction and likely with GM's as well that wanted to trade for him.

With Morey, I personally dont think he operates in a knee jerk reaction mode to a couple preseason games, and likely still has the same valuation to him that he had pre draft. I mean look at how he valued Asik on the market during his self imposed deadline. The guy doesn't believe in adjusting market value in trades based on snap judgement current events. He's data driven and bases value on entire scope of work & long term projections rather than current events. That's all I'm saying. Morey probably values Dekker at a much higher rate than you'd think and even with a poor preseason is unlikely to think of Dekker as a throw in.

    dobro,

I can't really tell, but it seems that you agree with me on the following:
    1. The deal as proposed probably isn't good enough.
    2. Morris is better than Jones and hence would make a difference if we had him right now.

On the Morris for Dekkar, straight up if legal...you are the one that brought that up, but now you seem to be saying that isn't your point after bringing it up in the first place. Probably lewft that way since it can't happen.

P.S. I am not concerned only with right now. That said, right now does have a lot of value. Improving Jones, Brewer, or Beverley could greatly increase odds Rockets are NBA Champs this year more than most.

Been saying it for a while, Marfieff Morris makes a lot of sense from a cost control standpoint.

And I think he'd be a realistic target.

Perfect player? No.....but I don't know if we'd be able to swing a dream power forward to stand toe-to-toe against other WC 4's.

But a power forward who jacks three-pointers, getting paid $8,000,000 a season until the summer of 2019? Why would Morey say no?

(If the cost is Brewer and DMo, though [I don't see us yielding Ariza], the return better be Markieff and Devon Booker.)

Morey will somehow take a pick from them.

I heavily doubt Chicago would deal Pau. But, Gibson or Mirotic on the other hand..

    Terry won't be traded.

To be honest, Phoenix will probably be happy to deal Morris. They don't want to look like we Morey'd them, so it won't be a Larson-ish one-sided trade, but I would think Morey would say no to your proposal.

Slightly steep, after Morris' public condemnation (unprofessional as it might have been) of the Suns is forcing their hand somewhat....even if they are all playing nice for the moment.

If Morris could be had for KJ and Jones he would do it in a heart beat. Morris is a really decent PF who shows up constantly. I get to watch a lot of him he's tough. I like his game a lot.

Are you talking about Cleanthony Early? If so he sucks I would much rather roll with Jones and Dmo

I'm not sure how well he'd like playing off the bench though. Sure he might be an upgrade over Jones, but you've gotta factor in the baggage too.

    No insider....

Watch Atlanta very closely. Al Horford on an expiring, our need for a PF, and we have a ton of young guys....

To be honest I think he's probably a better player than Dmo Is currently. Not to metion we have no idea how Dmo will be when he does come back. He stays healthy and is more cconsistent he would probably start. Plus Jones would be included in the deal

Unlikely, Splitter move was designed to keep him happy.
