So . . .does this have any CAP considerations?

Bout damn time, not sure why we wasted our time, picks, and efforts on this guy.

Wonder if Bobby will disagree with this decision, seeing as Mallett was his brutha from anotha.

Minimal. Mallett may or may not still be owed some money for this year, but not a lot. No dead money for next year. Texans still roughly $4M under the cap to spend on any street FA we might sign between now and the end of the year.

Nope. Still haven't "wasted" multiple first round picks on failed franchise QB's

Couch and Carr cancel each other out.

Since then, they've spend 3 22nd picks on QB's (all of which were traded for, and all of which were their 2nd 1st rounder in those drafts), and moved on quickly after determining they were dog****.

They are 0 for 3 (probably), and their expansion franchise has sucked since it's inception, but I think they've employed a pretty low-risk method of trying to find their guy.

The Texans' not spending a 1st (or 2nd) draft pick on a QB in the past 12 drafts is not a credit to them.

A lot of words... and really not sure where you're going with it.

The Texans 2011 and 2012 seasons alone outweigh everything the Browns 2.0 have done since their re-arrival... they've shown that it can definitely be worse if you pick the wrong 1st round QB.

At least the Texans have Brown, Watt, Hopkins... and maybe Merciless to show with their first round picks. The Browns have.... who?

It really is sad that Rick Smith is probably the most trustworthy person in the Texans organization. Pretty much every decision that BOB has made or tried to make has been awful.

So, Ryan Mallet is not going to be a starting QB elsewhere as soon as he's released?

Also, all this proved is that Rick Smith is still a patsy/go-for/errand boy, the Chronicle still gets its reporting all jumbled up, and BOB got rid of the guy who was even more worthless on the field than he was off of it.

Is it the preseason still? I know you aren't the brightest poster in this forum, but try to keep up kid.

Some team will pick him up as the backup or 3rd string QB and he'll have a head start learning the playbook fighting for a spot in camp next year.

Doesn't really matter because it wasn't like he had a future here, neither does Hoyer and if McNair is smart, BOB and Rick Smith won't have a future here either.

Man, BTG still thinks Ryan Mallet has a future....

Defending him to the bitter end... ugh.

Try to keep up... and be better.

Ha... embarrass? You literally have the title of most embarrassing poster of all time.

Enough incorrect hot-takes to fill up toilets all over the place.... the fact that you couldn't even admit how wrong you were just exposed you further.

I don't doubt you think that. A fool sees wisdom as folly and you're one of the biggest fools around.

So Smith makes what everyone believes to be the correct call about Mallet on Sunday and you still throw dirt on him? Sheesh! As for BoB, I truly believe that he over estimated the level of football talent and maturity of the players on this team. Perhaps he, too, was fooled by the 9-7 record last year. At any rate, we can see why NE was willing to cut Mallett loose for so little in return. The Texans are a hot mess right now but they should still beat a crippled Titans team come Sunday. It's too late in this season to make the kind of radical changes that need to be made in order to get this train wreck moving forward so I/we will just have to let this season play out and see what things look like at season's end. It sucks, I know, but that's the hand we've been dealt as of today Oct 27 2015.
