You're right, there are a lot of incompetent idiots just like with every profession. With Carson its pretty specific because as someone that has definitely prescribed antibiotics with MRSA and other resistant organisms in mind, he is acknowledging the fact that bacteria evolve through mutations and are selected for as the antibiotic susceptible ones are killed off. Evolution in that sense takes place in the hospital setting all the time. If asked directly even he couldn't dispute that fact.
In reality, nothing is black and white. However nearly every topic in politics is painted black or white. And then each side dares to claim the other side are extremists. You are jumping from "every living matter has evolved from a single cell organism" to "a species adapting to antibiotics". "Got ya" arguments are the worst forms of debates. Its sad many people have stopped thinking for themselves and simply jump on one side or another.
What I pointed out was an example of evolution. Its not "one species". Bacteria, viruses, encompass a diversity of species that is exponentially greater than humans. The difference is that you can study alterations in generations in a reasonable amount of time as opposed to the thousands of years it would take in humans. Through genomic studies we can pretty much map relations and alterations, pinpointing lineages. I don't understand what you are trying to say....if you think antibiotic resistance is any less of an example of evolution you may want to read up on it more.
What Space Ghost I think is stating is that Ben Carson's 'retort' to you would be: "That is just an example of 'micro evolution'" Many evolution deniers will state that they believe 'micro evolution' happens like Ben Carson, but they won't state that evolution of all life from single celled organisms happened as that would contradict their Biblical creation story.

I think Jeb is actually worse than his brother. His brother was actually likable and his time as the Governor of Texas was actually something worth talking about. Jeb's time as governor was just tax cuts and mass incarceration. And he says stupid things all the time as well. George W Bush had to govern with a Texas Senate that was run by a Democrat (even though the Senate was Republican) and a Democratic House. He had to actually work for his priorities. Jeb had free reign in Florida and claimed economic growth based on a massive housing bubble that he conveniently avoided. Jeb somehow got this reputation as a policy wonk but I honestly dont get it. George W Bush's downfall was the people he surrounded himself with. By the time he fixed that (2006), the Democrats took both houses of Congress. Jeb is actually governed far more conservatively than his brother (although the Republican Party as a whole today is also more conservative than the party was in 2000). I'm glad Jeb has been exposed. He had a fraudulent reputation as a serious policy wonk. Also Rubio absolutely kills him when it comes to making conservative policies sound moderate and compassionate. Jeb just seems to trip himself up every time he tries to sound a little more centrist.
Quite interesting as usual. I've heard that the Texas governor's powers were more watered down and the lt.governor had more authority in certain key areas. So I mostly grew up believing dubs coasted during his time as gov rubber stamping legislation his handlers wanted. Is that still true and this is an isolated comparison?
Actually (and, since I am an atheist I am not saying this to defend the Bible) the story of Abraham and Isaac is very misread by modern people. What people don't understand is that the Jews, as a Semitic people, prior to converting to monotheism, practiced a religion similar to other Semitic people in the area, such as the Phoenicians. And in Phoenician culture it was a long standing practice to sacrifice the first born son to Ba'al. Archaeological and historical evidence even suggests that the Carthaginians (a Phoenician people) were still doing this all the way up to the Punic Wars time period. So, the story of Isaac is not about a particularly crazy God who wants you to kill your first born son and then changes his mind at the last minute. In fact, when the story was first written, the assumption was that the primary god wanted you to sacrifice your first born son to him, and the strange thing about the Issac story is that this new Jewish God didn't want people to do that anymore.

The Lieutenant Governor in Texas has quite a bit of power because the Lt Governor controls the Texas Senate. During Bush's time in office with the exception of the last couple of years, Bob Bullock who was a Democrat was lieutenant governor. Bush consequently had to work with Bullock (who had to manage an increasingly conservative Senate) and Pete Laney who ran the House (which was still controlled by Democrats). You cant manage a situation like that without being personable and hard working. George W Bush always had the reputation of being aloof as president but the guy had a reputiation as a really hard worker as Governor. But his success in Texas was his downfall in Washington. Bush always ran with a close inner circle that he consulted with on major policy choices. In Texas, he consulted with Democrats and Republicans alike. In Washington, he had idiots like Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld to talk to. And when those two started to fight with Colin Powell and Paul O'Neill, Cheney had them pushed out of the way. Bush lived and died with his advisers. They were why he was a decent governor and they're why he was a terrible president. Bush actually tried some pretty bold and frankly needed reforms in Texas (such as actually trying to fix Texas's reliance on property taxes for education funding). Bush always struck me as thoughtful and willing to listen. Jeb on the other hand strikes me as your typical delusional Conservative who thinks tax cuts are the cure all for an economy. He was a bad governor who dumped a terrible economy on Charlie Crist. Everyone was so quick to paint a narrative of Jeb Bush as the smarter of the two just because Jeb had a more boring and statesman like demeanor. That doesn't mean he's smarter or a better legislator.
