Why would we trade for Blesode? How would we trade for him, Where would the money come from? Why tf would Phoenix trade their best player?? you obviously didn't think.
That's why I said that if we are in win-now mode, you don't really have time to wait for your starting power forward to develop
Tjones, Dekker, KJ for Markieff Morris The Rockets could make that salary work when KJ is trade eligible in December. Rockets could then probably add one more vet to get the roster to 13 and stay below the hard cap.
Hey , I was just pointing out that the numbers don't work in that deal that someone else suggested ..... Other than the fact that I'm not high on Dekker and would move him if an opportunity came along to upgrade the 4.
So marker is worth 3 first rounders? Given he wants out I don't think he'd be worth more than one. If there are salary matching purposes then you need to move the other two for assts and space to execute the trade.
Kj wasn't a first rounder and Jones doesn't count as first rounder anymore otherwise almost every single player in the nba whether star or scrub 19 year old or 39 would count as a first round pick. He's about to get paid and KJ can't shoot. Plus he has one of the worst a:to ration in drives. (probably due to philly but we will see).
I see just 2 routes for us to go: a big-time acquisition with several young guys going out, or a Brewer/Josh Smith addition for very cheap that fills a need. "Big-Time" Targets Al Horford Derrick Favors Both of these guys have contracts that we can fit in under the hard cap by sending enough outgoing salary. They each make about $12 million, so we'd have to send out a minimum of $10.4 to make any trade work. Keep in mind that we need to maintain 13 roster spots, so we can't just send out a bunch young guys on cheap contracts.....Brewer or Beverley would need to be included. Role Players Marvin Williams (assuming he's bought out) Brandon Bass Ersan Ilyasova I could see any of these 3 shaking loose via buyouts when their teams are out of contention (and they will be). Ilyasova and Williams are both quality 3 point shooters and aren't bad on the defensive end. Bass is a mid-range shooter, but he can finish around the rim and play solid defense. If the decision is between signing one of these 3 guys to a minimum deal or trading a bunch of young guys for Morris, I'd rather sign the vets.
I don't see any reason for Ersan or Marvin Williams to be bought out. Ersan has a partial ung year next season so he's practically free capspace and the team has pathetic depth at pf. Charlotte didn't even buy out Lance who was a malcontent and Marvin Williams is not and on top of that he expires. There's no reason teams to buy out expiring contracts.
I'm not saying that they will be bought out right now....only that when their teams are out of the playoff hunt, it could be mutually beneficial for the team to cut some salary and the player to go to a contender. JMO, but Charlotte is dead on arrival. They've got a bunch of PFs that all do the exact same thing and have very little depth everywhere else. Why would Charlotte want to invest time in Marvin with Zeller and Kaminsky on rookie contracts and Hawes signed for another 3 years? Ilyasova's situation is different. He has a mostly non-guaranteed contract next year, but that won't be worth much in trades given that everyone will have cap room. If Detroit is out of the playoff picture, I could see them cutting Ersan loose if he's willing to take a paycut.
Rockets would trade for Bledsoe because he would be an upgrade over Pat Beverley and a hedge if Ty Lawson is not re-signed. Morey calls these "options". Seriously, you led with that question? Where would the money come from?? Rockets have many options to make this trade with a deep quality bench and expiring contracts, Rockets also have 3 trade exceptions. Morey could also sweeten pot by sending future picks. Phoenix has been on the verge of trading Bledsoe for years now. His name is always on the trade block. Bledsoe does not love PHX, and the feeling is mutual. Suns are barely a top 8 team in the West WITH BLEDSOE and are looking to clear cap space so they can be players for the big FA in 2017. Just because you lack the wherewithal, creativity, capacity or just balls to believe in non-linear solutions don't take it out on me.
Of the group you listed , Marvin Williams is the only one I see that may be bought out .... No reason to keep him around with those young guys. That partially guaranteed deal next year could be valuable to a team looking to shed salary and create more space under the cap - Could net them an asset or two. Bledsoe makes $13.5m this year .... and has a total of 4 years on his deal including this one. Sure , maybe they trade him .... The Rockets have roughly $950k in cap space and are hard capped after that. To bring in Bledsoe they would have to send out $12.55m in salary .... they would also be on the hook for roster holds @ $525,093 each in 2/1 , 3/1 , 4/1 deals increasing the amount they have to send out to make the $$$ work. Put together a trade package for Bledsoe that fits those guidelines and is acceptable to both teams.
Since soooo many teams will have big cap room next year, I don't think other teams will see much value in non-guaranteed contracts.
I'm sure Morey can come up with a package better than me, but if I can put one together like below, I'm sure Morey would have no problem. http://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/6620748 Not included in the link would be players that Suns would have to release before/after trade or the sweetners by the Rockets (future picks and/or rights to players, e.g. Llull).
That trade doesn't work. Works on trade machine but not reality. Doesn't sent out enough salary , only totals $11.88m. Counting cap holds for empty roster spots (3x525k) you'd have to send out $13.455m. PatBev cant be traded until after January 14th 2016. Thornton cant be traded until after December 14th 2015. Makes no sense to trade Jones and not get a suitable replacement when we have no idea when DMo will return and how well he will play. I guess you are planning on Harrell actually contributing big minutes .... Try again.
