i wonder how tmac ever played street ball growing up. depth perception is real when playing on hoops without net. completely throws my shooting off.
Not an issue. Just because one eye flies off doesn't mean both eyes can't work together. I have the same condition, in both eyes. If I focus too much out of one eye, the other will fly off, but I can use both together just fine and don't have any depth perception problems.
cool idea, but ... Larry Bird would not like this. Even an 1/8 inch extra rim height is too much. Anyone remember the game where during shooting practice he made the refs measure the rim and adjust it back to a perfect 10'
Uh, not so sure what this has to do with the OP. But I'm right. You are wrong. I only say these things when I am party of the history that I'm offering to this bbs. Sorry your first instinct is to question your elders Larry Bird grew up on Indiana outdoor courts with no net, just like I did (me Illinois) Do you understand what Corn Field ball is about? I do... I'm down with telling you more, how this worked in the corn fields. no nets
Larry Bird played without nets. Probably played without a backboard... outside in the dirt... at night time... without a moon... in the snow...
What i loved was the chains. Such a very rewarding sound. "Swish" as an onomatopoeia doesn't do it justice.
Basketball season in Illinois and Indiana was f1cking cold. If you made the basketball team, you were allowed to play indoors. We came from small towns where the city council voted on the HS coach. I assume that's like Texas football...except we were cold. and windy To make it, you had to shoot at whatever rim you had. Nets were a luxury because they didn't last. We even bought our own and strung them. Not good enough, because they'd be stolen, unless we had a neighbor basket to play at. That's why chains were the best. But they ripped up the ball. I was lucky enough to get access to the gym at night, where I could take my leather ball to a real net. I was lucky. Larry Bird wasn't as lucky as me at age 14. Larry didn't like a lot of things. That's why he quit college ball early
Damn.. Why didn't I think of this. I remember sometime a few years ago I noticed how many courts had no nets and thought to just go buy some nets and install them.. But I didn't have ladder and that was the end of it.
