Mallet has a career 60 QBrating. What value is that? He did play worse many times, such as when he went 0-16 under pressure
I asked that back in the pre-season....that was back when Mr. Clutch's narrative was that I was a Fitz fan. Fitz was not a good QB, but I'd take him over Hoyer any day of the week and over Mallett most of the time.
No way he could have been worse. Nothing in Hoyer's career suggested that. At least keep Fitz as the backup, obviously he was okay with that role.
You realize Mallett, under pressure, has been as bad as one can possibly be, right? Check a game earlier this year. Google is your friend.
Hoyer and Fitz are the same statistically. The fact that you would sometimes take Mallett over Fitz is just more in a long line of embarrassing statements from you
Career wise, looking at y/a and QBrating they are quite similar. Career they will end up around 80 QBrating. Both Fitz and Hoyer are putting up 90s QBrating under BOB, but inconsistently Mallet is several deviations below that. Mallet is a 60 QBrating guy under Bob, meaning hes 33% worse than either Fitz or Hoyer
Pining for one QB over the other is a big waste of time at this point...but I wanted to get a whole season sample size for Mallett just to see if he could fix his issues. I'm 99% sure he can't but we've got nothing better to do with this season. Hoyer started what 1/12 today with no points in the 1st half, how can the guy honestly say he's better than anyone? Mallett never got a chance to finish the Colts game, play against JAX or in garbage time today, so the QB rating argument means little to me. His attitude's been crap though so I'd just as soon cut the guy. But even then I'd like to get a look at Dysert...Hoyer probably is marginally the best guy we have but he's still bad and there's not even a sliver hope for the future with him. If we wanted to go with the "best guy" no matter what, casting off Fitz was an idiotic move.
Yeah honestly all of the QB's on the roster need to go once the season is over. None of them are any good. Just like I said at the start of the season, somehow the Texans managed to make their QB situation worse than it was last year.
This is my point. Even if a QB was drafted, they still should have kept Fitz as the backup. Fitz never had a half as bad as Hoyer had today. Hoyer will never have a game as good as Fitz had against the Titans last year. They had Fitz on contract. A bird in hand is better than two in the bush. Especially if the two in the bush are sickly and diseased.
Both Mallett and Hoyer have been bad, like real bad. Hoyer's rating is inflated due to him showing up in garbage time. Mallett's good imo is better than Hoyer's good, but neither have shown the ability to be good for more than a drive or 2. Again, our QB situation is the brightest piece of garbage in the dumpster fire that is the Houston Texans
I don't really agree on Hoyer vs Fitz. Their stats are so similar and this year's team is much worse. But yes moving from Fitz to Hoyer was pretty pointless. Signing Mallet was a big mistake. He's beyond worthless and brought MOFs to the forum
He shows just enough to say he might be alright but then when he gets the job he Sh!ts his pants. O'B was just egotistical to think he could fix that.
He's had the exact same scouting report since high school. He's terrible under pressure but if he has time he can look good. That's why he looks so good in garbage time with no pressure and so god-awful when playing anyone that can get to the QB until garbage time. There's simply no changing it. Also, this is the same reason why he looks good in practice with no pressure which is what got him the job to begin with. He's like a baseball player who destroys the ball when he's hitting off a pitching machine, but then strikes out every time he is in a real game against a competent pitcher.
I had hopes that O'B was this offensive guru who would design plays to maximize strong points and minimize weaknesses but then Godsey shows up and totally blows that out of the water.
