Potential to be better than average? He has long surpassed that. It's no longer potential for him to be better than average. 11 TDs and 3 INTs…66% completion percentage…101 rating. He's much better than average.
But a lot of people said the same thing about these QB's. I remember a large amount of people saying Rodgers would never be Farve. Again, we don't know for sure, and yea he could be the next Vince Young. I just think for a guy who's shown some flashes of potential it's unfair to limit him without letting him put in some work in the league. I do agree that last year's QB class is not good at all for the most part. I'm just saying it's not out of the realm of possibility that Bridgewater could be good if not great. And I'd rather have that chance then be stuck with Hoyer and Mallett. Sadly I don't think this issue will be addressed in the matter that it should be.
Nobody is raving that Hoyer is the future…they're just raving about the fact that Hoyer was the much better option over Mallett.
My problem with the Bridgewater nonsense is that 1. He's not even the best QB from his class 2. He hasn't really even looked good overall. 3. He wouldn't really help the Texans given their problems running the ball and the defense being terrible. 4. He was gone by the time the Texans picked and wasn't in any way worth the top overall pick. 5. The best QB in his class was drafted after him. 6. There's no chance he ever plays for the Texans so why are we talking about him?
Which is inaccurate. People simply over-reacted to a few good partial games in garbage time and a game against the Jags. The two times he played a team that was actually trying that had defenses that could get to the QB he played like the worst QB in the NFL until garbage time. Don't worry, we have a lot more season left in case you haven't figured it out yet.
Ah yes, I know you are impressed by garbage time and games against the Jags, but you have to understand that not everyone else is so easily impressed. Hoyer had something like a 23 QB rating when the game mattered today, sure he brought that up to 70 something in garbage time, but what value is that? Anyway, I know there's nothing that will make you see the light, you'll have to find out the hard way so rock on guy.
Ah, yes you're impressed by 5 y/a, 50% completion and a 60 QBrating. Anyway, I know there's nothing that will make you see the light, you'll have to find out the hard way so rock on guy.
The real question that people keep ignoring is "why did we get rid of Fitz to get these bums?". No more new former patriots should be allowed to walk into the home locker room at Reliant Stadium.
Ryan Mallett at no point played as poorly as Hoyer did today before garbage time. Again, I'm not talking Mallett up as if he's some good QB, I'm just trying to have you realize exactly how bad a QB Hoyer is when he's pressured. Don't be fooled by garbage time, hell Hoyer had a 110 QB rating in garbage time....what value is that?
