As noted earlier if that was the case then why wasn't this person called in to testify to any of the Congressional committees (who are GOP controlled) about it?

Except then if that there was a stand down order has been classified wouldn't the people saying that there was be breaking the law?

If there was a stand down order made and it is being talked about publicly it doesn't make much sense that that portion would be then classified. Especially from a Congressional Committee that has already admitted they are hostile to the Clinton State Dept. and the Obama Admin.

At most that can be said about this is that it is a "he said, she said situation". You have people who have testified under oath that no such order was issued. That is public knowledge. You have people who say that yes a stand order was issued. Publicly that wasn't said under oath but there is no public knowledge if it was said in a classified hearing.

The weight of the evidence, based on at least what is known, is that there wasn't an order as if those who claim they didn't' are found lying are criminal liable. Meanwhile if there was testimony that there was an order made in a classified hearing it would be a crime to reveal that publicly.

I'm going to throw out a third possibility that this was a very confused situation and someone might've misinterpreted something as a stand down order when it wasn't.

Or, more to the point; talented, driven people know better than to waste all their passion or voice on politics, and those in creative fields more so.

Just something about these movies and what the makers of these kinds of film think of the American public.... All the journalism, public records, and documentation in the world can't stand up against movies and opinion journalism.

The gamesmanship is strong. And cynical. It is hilarious in so many ways. You really can't make this **** up.

It's interesting that the hate-Hillary-uber-alles people can't even admit that this is a factor in the whole sad event. But whatever.

It's all just cultural anthropology and will serve as an interesting side-bar in the history book chapter, "Rise of Extremist Right in the U.S."

I had never heard of this Benghazi story before, but it appears interesting from the trailer. Has a Syriania feel to it. I probably will download and check out.

I recently read the book - Zuckhoff goes to some length to explain it is not attempting to take sides in a political debate, and the story was based solely on information provided to him by the surviving Operators and publically available information. He points out the the Operators had a financial interest in the book.

The stand-down order that is portrayed in the book was given by Bob the CIA chief - as I recall, it was given to protect the existence and identity of the secret CIA base in Benghazi, and to allow local allied forces to respond. The book is very critical of "Bob", another individual only referred to as "Team Lead", and the complete lack of support provided by the US Military. - A drone was deployed and observed the activity but no information on enemy movements was provided to those on the ground.

I suggest you read the book and watch the movie before invoking political arguments.

Wonder if Hillary will try and get this film pulled from theaters.

She tried to get The Path to 9/11 tv movie pulled, and the Citizens United supreme court case was about Hillary trying to prevent a movie critical of her from being shown.
