ClutchFans Game Thread: Rockets @ Spurs 10/23/2015 (PRESEASON)

I can't believe that the entire world has come to an end and it's only the pre-season. Lawson played the 1st half and Beverly played the 2nd half...nuff said

Astros are more of a championship contender than the Rockets.

 

That's not true. There were several times that Green got an open 3 because somebody else over-helped and was late on the rotation.

It's not like the old days where if your man scores it was your fault. Defenses are a total team effort now, and Harden wasn't the reason for the open 3 on a lot of those shots.

 

I'm confused as to why you are a Rockets fan. Or how it's fun for you to post negativity every day. I don't get it.

 

Really? I can see at least 3 open threes by Green was caused by Harden ball watching.

 

1. Harden was ran through screens to get Green open for 3.

2. Harden sagged too deep which made his close-out too slow and Green got an open 3.

3. Ariza told Harden to switch and Harden picked up Leonard after Leonard went to the corner. Ariza over-helped on Parker 1 pass away which gave Green an open 3.

4. Harden helps to stop dribble penetration by Parker and is slow to close out on Green. Lawson is too deep and can't rotate.

5. Harden was very lazy on this play. He was behind from the start.

6. Green just sank this one with Ariza defending.








Okay, so I stand corrected. It was mostly Harden playing bad defense.

 

We may finally have a team that can truly compete for a championship but we haven't "arrived" yet. We "arrive" when we are holding up the trophy in June. Until then, we are nothing more than a very talented team that still has to prove themselves on the biggest stage.

I believe that winning a title starts in offseason before. Unless the team has the best talent in the NBA, without doubt, you have to be on the mindset that "This is our season! We are going to snatch it and have a vice grip on it all season!"

Look at the 2015 Warriors, they started the season on fire and everyone knew something was different about them, even in preseason. Same could be said about the 2014 Spurs who were on a mission from the offseason till they won the championship. The 2012 Heat were the same way following losing the 2011 Finals to the Mavs, they were focused on the mission from day one.

I guess I expected this team to have that mentality of "This is our time to shine and win it all!". And if there was ever a time to go all out, it is this season because of the crazy depth we have.

The book is still out for them, of course. But this is not the way I wanted to enter the season.

1/3 of our starters didn't play tonight. You can't beat the Spurs or the Warriors with Harden/DMO and only a 1st half of Ty Lawson. It's only pre-season too...no time for looking for our mommies and daddies at this time

 

I'm just happy the preseason is over. Now the real fun starts!!! Rockets will beast this year. Bet.

 

I meant we can't expect to beat the Spurs or Warriors without Howard/DMO and only 1/2 half of Ty Lawson in the pre-season or regular season so let's see what happens in the regular reason when it counts

Can someone give me a quick rundown of the game? Did we play starters the whole way? Did the Spurs? Did we look bad in this blowout, or was it lost in garbage time with d-leaguers?
