Had to turn the game off. Just ugly basketball by the Rox. Team hasn't been able to get a good flow this whole off season with all the players in and out of the lineup with injuries. Have no idea how good this team really is going into the regular season.

Same. The next one will count. Then we can legitimately be mad after a loss.... or a win...

Game was over when Lawson didn't start the 3rd. The offense immediately died and it became Harden Iso ball again.

Didn't help the two rookies (essentially) we have playing center can't play defense without fouling yet.

    T-jones as a center is a disaster.

Well if NO ONE understands the "Lawson Factor" this game showed WHY he's going to be the difference maker. The team plays 100% differently when he's involved...just look at the difference between the 1st and 2nd half with him and without him on the court

Besides health, what issues stop us from winning the title?

    Sorry, must include health.

Coaching. Yeah, Mark 'iso ball' Jackson was a "good" coach with Golden State too.

PF or lack thereof. Terrence Jones...is what he is. Motiejunas is recovering with no timetable for his return. ... Blake Griffin, LaMarcus Aldridge, Tim Duncan, Draymond Green, Zach Randolph, Serge Ibaka, Dirk Nowitzki, Anthony Davis - yeaaahh.

Well said except the last part. : )

They'll have another good season 54-57 wins, playoffs and we know anything can happen in the wild, wild west.

Ty Lawson "Is" the difference maker. Some of us don't remember that.

What do the Rockets see in T Jones?
    He is average at best.

ha Bingo Bro! Staying sane over here. For all we know McHale might be showing Beverly why he's not gonna start and he's more effective off the bench =)

It takes time to adjust the speed of the game. NBA players are very quick Dekker right now is just slow. I think he'll be good.

With that said I wouldn't be surprised if he was packaged and shipped. But still, there's a lot of D-league in his future.

Kudos to the Rockets for helping me assemble this list of candidates to be ignored before the season starts.

    Conclusions:

Our defense sucks, I guess at this point we just hope they can magically turn it on come Wednesday.

Terrence Jones at center is a disaster unless the other team goes small too

Harden looks okay, we'll see if he can turn on his defense just to get to the level of last year.

Lawson/Harden still need time to work together but lineup scores so much better with both of them in the lineup.

Capela looks good, clearly making some young player mistakes but should be solid at backup center.

Harrell looks good in spurts but makes some really dumb plays as well, needs some time in DLeague.

Dekker will spend most if not all year in DLeague.

Beverley, Ariza and Brewer looked good today, but Beverley ain't that good at defense anymore.

This is the worst preseason I can remember in recent years, we never looked good for more than a quarter at a time. Definitely tempering my expectations a bit to start the year. Hopefully we can settle in and work through the issues. Our defense looks nowhere near the level of last seasons. Even without Dwight we were much better than this. Guys just don't look sharp.

Well this was a really weird preseason.

First preseason with a losing record since 2007.

They didn't seem to play with any kind of energy or effort this whole preseason. Maybe it's because this year pretty much the whole rotation is made up of veterans.

Last year for example, the bench had guys like Motiejunas, Papanikolaou, Canaan, Daniels, Johnson, Black, etc.

Those guys were fighting for playing time, fighting to prove they belong, or fighting to make the roster.

This year the bench is made up of guys like Beverley, Thornton, Brewer, Terry, etc. Guys who are vets and have their contracts. They are just trying to not get injured out there.

    Agreed.

Decker has a great NBA body, and theoretical skills. He just has to adjust and shoot a million threes.

A year in the D-league and he'll come out great.

The first half was beautiful offensive basketball. What Zach Lowe said is absolutely true….its going to be 48 minutes of run and gun.

I'm not too worried about our defense….we were missing our starting front court. Get Dwight and DMo out there and we will be fine. I'm also not worried about the 2nd half…we were playing a total of 2 starters and a bunch of deep bench guys.

No reason to panic. We knew we had an athletic advantage over the Spurs, and we proved it out there.
