And what are DMo's and TJones's career numbers side by side? As pretty as DMo's post moves are, TJones is a great PF to play off the ball and his numbers reflect his efficiency. They offer a great one-two punch on our roster and I wouldn't be surprised to see Morey being very picky and not moving either by midseason.
No. That's ok. I shouldn't have to explain to someone like you why DMo is a good fit next to Drummond. You should be explaining what about Terrence's game is better than DMo and makes him a better fit next to Drummond than DMo....since you brought up this far-fetched hypothetical.
D-Mo career high in points: 26 T-Jones career high in points: 36 D-Mo career high in rebounds: 12 T-Jones career high in rebounds: 17. Has had 16 games with at least 12 rebounds (D-Mo's career high) D-Mo career high in blocks: 3 T-Jones career high in blocks: 7. Has had 29 games with at least 3 blocks (D-Mo's career high) Just some more food for thought.
Are there people really still trying desperately to make the case for Jones over DMo? C'mon guys, it's getting sad.
D-Mo top 5 scoring games 2014-15: 26 25 23 21 21 T-Jones top 5 scoring games of 2013-14: 36 33 30 25 24 D-Mo top 5 rebounding games 2014-15: 12 12 11 11 11 T-Jones top 5 rebounding games 2013-14: 17 16 14 13 13 D-Mo top 5 blocks in 2014-15: 3 2 2 2 2 T-Jones top 5 blocks in 2013-14: 6 5 4 4 4 D-Mo top 5 gamescores in 2014-15: 21.1 19.9 19.2 19.0 17.5 T-Jones top 5 gamescores in 2013-14: 34.8 29.6 29.1 24.2 22.6 Some more food for thought. For a "garbage man" like basketballholic claims Jones is, his peak numbers so far is higher than D-Mo's.
That's not the point I'm making. The point I'm making is that basketballholic is underrating Jones. Not giving him enough credit. He's pumping up D-Mo to be better than he is (and he's good), and doing everything he can to try to convince people that Jones is much worse than he actually is. I'm pushing back to say that Jones and D-Mo are different players, and Jones is better than basketballholic thinks he is.
Tj is a good fit next to Drummond because he can be molded into an adequate 3point shooter enough to stretch the defence and he's able to punish small ball teams with rebounding run in transition and hedge on defence just like what SVG wants. And he won't get in Drummonds way. DMO is not a good fit because SVG wants a 4-1 and DMO is not so mobile in defence as he wants from his pf and won't have any need for his post game at all. Repeat of most of Drumroe problems from a year ago. Here we go. Oh and about the "someone like you" part...well at least I'm not considered to be a troll and a hater.
Bmd pleaae stop tossing around facts in the GARM. Just stop it lol Bobbythestatguy I know you can appreciate those true stats that bmd provide us with. Especially since you believe stats tells us the truth and nothing but the truth. I don't know about you good peeps, but I'm glad we have two amazing PF'S on our team. Once Dmo comes back, that1-2 punch will be electrifying.
I'm unsure where this idea that he can be molded into an adequate shooter comes from, he shot 26% his first year, 30% his 2nd and 28% his 3rd, but more than that, he has a broken shot mechanic, he catapults the ball from 3. Dmo is a better 3 point shooter, he's a lot better, so if Stan wants 4-1, why would he want the guy who is a worse shooter? Greg Monroe doesn't shoot 3's, Jones shot 28.6% across 50 games last year and Dmo shot 36.8% across 71 games last year. Also defensively, i'm a bit unsure where you got this idea about stan's defense, he needs discipline more than anything out of most of his defenders, for example that orlando team was dwight and guys like reddick and ryan anderson, he's even said it in interviews and panels, that the most important thing to defense is discipline, you don't need to be able to hold your man every time, but if you don't, you need to know which way to let them go so the dynamic defender behind you knows where to help, and trusts you to check his man, Dmo has a much higher bbiq and in less game time has shown markedly higher ability to perform disciplined defense. Also against small ball teams, what are you talking about beat them in transition? a small ball team wants the game pace ramped up..... Staying large against small ball teams, the key is punishing in the half court and posting them up at the 4 is the most successful means of punishing small ball, because it does 2 things, it utilizes where the main size mismatch is, the 4, and secondary, such a slow half court offense slows the whole game down and provides a shot attempt that even when it misses gives very little window for said small ball team to use transition on you (the rebound will be short, so all your perimeter players are already back on defense).
^^ TJones plays more of a 3/4 combo forward while DMo plays more of a 4/5 combo center. I think Drummond could play well with either.
dmo can play the 5 but you don't really want it for very long, tjones can't play the 3 at all, he'd be worse at it than josh smith (and for detroit especially that'd be lol worthy)
he won't be in the game forever, other players have to play, and his strength is his post up game, was never good with howard his break out was when howard was out, he's still a upgrade over jones tho but what this team needs is guys at PF that can shoot
^Agree. Dmo was hitting that 3 consistently when he went down. Many seem to forget that. At this point I would trade Tjones for Ersan Ilyasova or something but I believe the salaries don't match.
