DC/Warner is counting on this to not only be a tentpole for the movie franchise, but also for the whole DC universe. Comics, cartoons, toys. You go to any store and the amount of Marvel merch dwarfs the amount of DC merch. And virtually no merchandise that isn't Batman or Superman. Even if the movie doesn't bring in titanic profits at the box office, if its really good it could make for a ton of back end profits for the franchise.
Check this crazy fan made conspiracy theory: http://moviepilot.com/posts/2015/10...n-skywalker-3586492?lt_source=external,manual
That link is ****ing stupid and should be banned from the internet. The writer should be locked in an asylum for the criminally dumb.
Freaking awesome crackpot theory. Unfortunately, Zach Snyder could never touch this level of complexity in the movie, even though Nolan is an executive producer. I do think the article has some merit in certain parts, though, especially the Spoiler bizarro angle.

So what I got from that was Superman commands an army of Nazis (or Hydra) and Batman got caught doing something illegal.
I imagine that's all a dream sequence (remember before Man of Steel came out, all the ads included that shot of Superman drowning in a sea of skulls -- also a dream sequence). But honestly I kind of wish it wasn't. I think I would absolutely love to see a movie where Superman turns flat evil. I know there are purists out there that would flip out at that idea, but it could be fun.
The whole superman vs batman thing is stupid. Superman is a god. The problem is they wrote him so powerful they had to invent a kryptonite as a dumb plot device.
Yeah, kill off Lois and his mom, make him go nuts, Justice League spends 3 movies trying to stop him.
I thought the angle was done pretty well in "The Dark Knight Returns", where the President (Reagan at the time) calls in Superman to bring the caped vigilante to justice. Batman recruited the Green Arrow and kryptonite, though, to give himself a chance. But I was fairly geeked out at the time (20 some-odd years old that I was).
Not only that but you would think he would keep his mouth shut about but noooooo, EVERY bad guys know this!!! Hell humans know this!! I mean if there's only one thing in the universe that can hurt/kill me I wouldn't ever speak a word of it!!
