Keep dreaming. We all know its going to be Hack. Its the same concept as BOB bringing in Mallett and Hoyer. Hack will be another one of BOB's cronies. Lets see how it turns out. Maybe good. Maybe bad. Who knows. Who cares.
This regime reminds me of the Steve Francis Rockets or the later Drayton McLane Astros years. People might get excited from time to time but at the end of the day it's mediocre garbage and it's gonna take time to recover from the hole they are digging.
Yeah if I were OBrien I would start looking at what it would take acquire Garoppolo, Kaep, Cutler or Stafford (if any of them becomes available). Not even sure its worth drafting Hackenberg in the 3rd or 4th if Savage can still be developed.
Why would the Patriots give up their only backup QB? I wouldn't mind Alex Smith (providing it's the good, safe, Alex Smith). Cutler if he doesn't demand too much $$.
His career qb rating is 89. Dont let this season fool you he's actually a good qb. I would take him in a second.
Jimmy Garoppolo. If Obrien identifies him as his guy he might as well do whatever it takes to get him and move forward. That's where I credit Kubiak. He wanted Schuab and went out and got him early in his tenure.
I don't see that happening UNTIL the Patriots get themselves a backup QB. Mallet wasn't available until they got Jimmy G. Plus O'Brien did the same with Mallet, went and got the QB he wanted.

Yup, first rounder for sure. Not sure what all this talk is about him dropping. He's clearly showed he has crazy ability.
So, OB didn't identify him as "his guy" last year and passed on him in the 2nd round, but now after not playing for 2 years, OB is supposed to see him as "his guy" and give up twice what he could have gotten him for in the first place?
I mean, sure he's not good enough to keep his college team in a game that they are favored to win, but he'd be just the kind of QB that would turn the Texans entire franchise around...
Scores often times dont tell the full story of what happens in a game. People know that Manning is essentially done for his career, but his brain and will power have so far been able to overcome his arm weakness...and his crazy # of INTs.
I know its all speculation, but would Savage have gotten playing time if it weren't for his injury? IIRC, it was Jayson Braddock, maybe PDStat, that was very high on Savage before the season started...saying that he was our best QB out of the 3.
