I don't remember an RB that was as highly touted as a freshman like Fournette since Peterson. Reggie Bush and Darren McFadden were considered sure fire studs and neither of them reached anywhere near that level in the NFL despite glimpses here and there because neither of them were very good between the tackles. Trent Richardson was a gigantic bust. LaDanian Tomlinson was the real deal. Ronnie Brown had some good years but was never great, same with Ricky Williams. Peterson was a man among boys right out of the gate his freshman year and there was considerable buzz about him that kind of tapered off slightly by the time he was draft eligible.
Megatron might be the only guy you'd take ahead of him in a re-draft. The chances of a RB going #1 are very slim. But -- if anyone would pull it off, I think it would be Fournette. Gurley went 10th after tearing his ACL.. and I think most would say Fournette is the better prospect. I'm not predicting Fournette to go #1, but if a guy is saying a RB could go #1, he's talking about Fournette.
I think the guy pegged to be the closest to AP was Trent Richardson. I know it's always "possible" for insert-RB to be the next Peterson, but the bust rate isn't any less than other positions. And even if you hit on a RB, your team's ceiling is still pretty meh. The Texans have probably the most transcendent defender of this generation and their defense still sucks. A RB isn't going to turn our offense into a juggurnet either. In the end it's still QB or wait-til-next-year IMO.
From the looks of things, he'll be there when the Texans pick in the 2nd round too. This QB class really is trash.
With Cal falling solidly out of the top 25 I wonder how much we'll see of Goff for the rest of the season.
That was a REALLY good play on 4th down by Goff though. He'll still be talked about, but I wonder how much Cal will be televised.
it wasnt that good of a throw the reciever had to dive for it... im still not seeing anything with this dude
I was really more praising his poise under pressure right up the middle than praising the throw itself. I'm not seeing a lot special about this guy either, he certainly doesn't appear to be the type of QB that can really elevate his team as they are getting blown out despite being the favorite.
Extremely dominant game by UCLA...really sucked out the life from Cal the entire game. Their pocket was destroyed a majority of the game, and nothing consistent on the ground. Goff was OK...but he still shows me why he has 1st round talent. Whether others move up will be seen. If he remains in college for his senior season...well this thread would be moot... Ive watched every game but 1 this season...UTAH game was his worst performance...but this game was a game manager type of game...didnt do anything to crush his team...and gave his receivers chances on most pass attempts. Hoping his stock keeps dropping...
